I predict that Ike Davis will participate and win.

And lets see how everyone else fairs at Citi Field.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you have to be on the All-Star team to be in the derby.
It's not like the dunk contest or 3 point shooters contest.

I don't think that is true. The appointed captains pick the players they want on their teams.

From the All Star roster. I don't ever remember seeing anyone not on the All Star team competing in the derby

Considering his swing issues I don't know if I want him participating.

That was a one time change to the rules that made the Home Run derby a Countries against Countries thing. It was used to lead up to the first WBC. The 8 contestants were from 8 different countries and Choi was the Korean representative. Other then that I think you have to be on the All Star team to be in the Derby

I think MLB should allow players to compete in the Derby irregardless of All-Star status.

That way, more players can be involved in the festivities.

Its a win-win for all parties involved.

And yes...I think IKE will be on the All-Star team.

I really want to see a Met in the HR derby and Ike would be a good fit. Ike has a chance to make the AS team if he has a 1st half like his 2nd half last year...especially with no Fielder or Pujols in the NL.
