I've read somewhere that smaller market teams that have problems packing a stadium often opt for green colored seats so the stadium doesn't look as empty with little fans there... I know is Shea when it was empty those orange seats seem to glow like nuclear waste (wait do nuclear waste really glow) lol.

Yeah, the Dodgers changed all 56,000 of the seats like 5 years ago.

The white sox changed the color of their seating at U.S. Cellular Field in 2005 to forest green. Shea also changed the seat colors around 79 I believe.

It wasn't because of the color though, it's because they were old.

That was the Wilpons way of saying they were including the POLO Grounds as well as Ebbets Field in the design of CitiField. The Polo Grounds seats were those colors.
