This was before is insane 2012. Reyes was the best player in the league in 2011, especially in the first half. This would have worked. We didn't even really explore trading the guy. Sandy and the Wilpons really missed a great opportunity.

Wright is going to be terrible next season. .280 with 17 HRs...book it.

Please remember Reyes had a few trips to the DL, and he missed quite a few games from 2009 to 2011.

Reyes landed on the DL July 2nd. At that point, he was hitting .355 and slugging .529. There is no way, that we would have had trouble getting a top prospect for him.

There were no rumors about us trading Reyes at all. Had we explored this actively, is is very likely that there would have been rumors. This is not a trial. The threshold here has to be a preponderance of evidence, not beyond a reasonable doubt.
