basically the best available of those that get to free agency will be 30 and over. the best will also be getting the bj upton deals or better next winter. free agency will only get worse as teams lock up players at younger ages and small market teams get a bigger cut from revenue sharing money.

I would not sign Bourn.. We have pick number 11 this year.. It is the first pick in the draft that is unprotected.. Meaning if why sign Bourn the Braves get the number 11 pick from us this year.. We are rebuilding.. No reason to go away from the plan now.. We have come this far.. We are not winning with out without Bourn this year..

then enjoy an outfield of baxter,capt kirk and duda.

it will not be Baxter- Kirk- Duda..

In the end we will sign Ross and/or Hairston signed..

Baxter will not make this team..

I personally like Nieuwenhuis... I can live with giving Duda one more year.. This is a rebuilding letting players develop year..

I mean Ellsbury will be out there and would be a good fit but he is 30 has an injury history and a Boras client so I would have to think about it.. But the pick would not be major point of my decision making as it would be this year..

Bourn is pretty good player not good enough to warent losing a good pick while rebuilding..

that not what im saying.There are no bournes available next year,or in the near future.hes more than a "solid" player. hes plays a great outfield,has the coverage he needs for citis outfield.always hits between 280-310,with 40 -60 bags,and has a pretty good obp.

Ellsbury? dude,his injury history alone,makes me not think about it.

and bourn has yet to spend any extended time on the bench due to injury

Signing we not only lose our pick but it goes directly to a division rival..

I mean I won't cry if we sign Bourn.. I mean it makes some sense.. Playing him in center and you can play perhaps Kirk and eventually DD on the corners and you have a great defensive outfield..

And we could give the lineup more balance..

So it a lot of ways it makes sense..

But he is a Boras client, his track record is not long enough to warrant the contract he commands..

I would rather collect the picks continue to build the system and give guys like Duda (who I dont like) and Nieuwenhuis their final chance this year to show they are players..

if we are gonna build up picks and collect players that will be good 5 -6 years from now rather than invest some money back into the team and sign the only lead off hitter worth getting for the foreseeable future then we shouldve just did david a solid and traded him to a team thats willing to look at ways to win.
