He wasn't that bad. Had some gap power and a decent eye at the plate. Defense was average. There are worse definitely. Not bad for a 13th round pick.

I like the trade I'm just poking fun at the Mets for a bit.

Thole was about the worst game-calling catcher I'd seen in a while. He's as much a part of the pitching woes as the bullpen itself was. Had a nasty tendency to call low and outside ALL THE TIME.

Absolutely he was a nughtmare behind the plate and not much better up at the plate he was brutal to watch with him and Bay in the line up you had 2 automatic outs.

Watch what happens. He will be a starter for years to come. And Thole did not call the games. Warthen was calling the pitches and he openly admitted it.

Then Thole should have shrugged off Warthen and called his own <damn game. Why the <hell was Warthen continuing to call "low and away" to the point where it was predictable. More than likely contributed to many of the losses. Our bullpen may not have been as bad if it weren't for that. Not taking away from their own failures, just saying that the pitch-calling by Warthen, and Thole going along with it and choosing to not make his own decision about it made them look worse. We can only hope the same thing doesn't happen with Buck or D'Arnaud, but knowing Warthen and his practical sabotage tactics, I'll wait and see.
