Jacoby Ellsbury seems to me the perfect outfield fit for the Mets.

He hits for power, has speed, a great glove and is still in his prime(29 years old).

What kind of contract will he be looking for as a FA in 2014(and yes i know he is a Boras client)?

Would it be something around 18-20 million a year?

He is probably one guy that may be worth it.

Another thought is to trade for him this year(i know its just for 1 yr), but at least it would give him an idea what's it like playing in NYC and would give the Mets a chance to see if he can handle it without dishing out a ton of dough.

Also his salary this year would be $9.5 million.

Having Ellsbury(a winner/hard nose player) and David Wright lead the young guys into the future to me would be a good thing especially if guys like Ike D. develop.

It would be Mets circa 2006-2008 all over again(DWright,CBeltran,CDelgado).

Injury prone...yep perfect fit for the Mets! I'd only be interested in him as a FA...no sense in trading for him.

When at full strength Ellsbury is way better then Bourne.

I don't see the Mets doing that - especially since he's a SB client

so ppl r willing to spend or trade prospects for an injury prone ellsbury (btw,the jurys still out on reyes and if hes done with getting hurt) but dont think we should spend money and sign bourne?

Just because it is his walk year doesn't mean he is going to have a monster year. That doesn't happen with all players but if it does with him I wouldn't want him next year as a FA. Any player that doesn't preform to his best every year is just a showboat and is lazy. Not what you want on a team.
