uh....NO. Why is everyone suggesting that we trade Ike?? He is pretty much our ONLY big power threat. He has 40 hr potential. If I'm trading Ike, I want a young slugger in return.

plus Arizona has Goldschmidt so they wouldn't trade for Ike anyway

DFAB, we're not the same page as Murphy, but I agree with you about Ike Davis. He actually can play defense, unlike Murphy, and produces well enough offensively even if he didn't play great defense. I will make one comment, though: Duda is a first baseman naturally, and it's clear he is absolutely terrible in the outfield. I do feel that if Duda shows he can hit around 30 homers or more a year, maybe you could think about moving Duda to first and trading Davis or just moving Dude for a better all around outfielder. Between Duda or Davis, you have hopefully another piece for an outfielder and then Flores as well(No way you keep Flores on this team with David Wright at third and Davis or Duda at first).

Duda was a 1b...you're right. That doesn't make him a good 1b defensively though.

well yea, I accounted for avout a .025 increase in OPS from last year bringing him up to about .795

but in all seriousness i cant see Ike really above an .815ish OPS, which is solid..

but we can trade him and get more than he's worth

No, I agree about him not being as good defensively as Davis. But 1b is a position where you can get away with bad defense much, much more than second base with Murphy.

You're absolutely right, his power means nothing if his OPS is sub .800

There is no way you could know that...if he has a sick year hitting .290 with 45 hrs, you don't think that would be MVP worthy?

I don't want to give up Niese either, but it's looking like we are planning to contend in 2015, with guys like Snydergaard, Fulmer, Nimmo etc. being ready or close by then, so I think I would trade Niese for a deal like this, if it was possible.

I hadn't thought about that actually. This does open up the trade market for Niese.
