Last 2 years Johnson's OPS .717 and .678. Murphy .810 and .735, and Murphy has been doing it in a lot more less hitter friendly park.

johnsons last 3 years of hr's 26 21 16 murphys 12 6 6 had to go back to 09 for murphy cause he tore his knee, I said add more pop, however murphys 162 game average is 67 runs 9 hr's 67 rbi, johsons is 87 runs 19 hrs 68rbi.

thats a little more pop on a team that can use more of it.

Murphy is VERY solid offensively. He hardly ever strikes out and knows how to work the count. He isn't a huge power guy but he gets on base and can drive in runs with his 40 doubles. He wasn't horrible defensively either so I think he COULD be a long term 2b for us..

just look at his stats....they show the he IS solid....he isn't the "power guy" but a 2b really doesn't have to be. That is what the OF/1b/3b is for...

Johnson had 5 2bs and 6 HRs on the road last year Murphy had 17 2bs and 5 HRs. Johnson hasn't been close to the same player since his one year in Arizona.
