I don't understand how it affects our leverage, but otherwise I agree with it being foolish to set up that scerario in the first place

Yes it would have been a MUCH better idea to ban him from going to the Charity Event. Because that way he would never be able to talk to the Media.

It has always been a less than ideal, unlikely outcome. It still remains an option however. You have a whole season to mend relationships if that was the route we took, but whther he was happy or not if he was heading to the open market you don't think he'd be involved in more trade rumors before the deadline? He has the right to be unhappy, but it changes nothing the Mets are doing or can do. The leverage we have gained since the winter meetings is significantly greater than any we may have lost by Dickey's frowney face

To be fair, the memo did say Team Dysfunction.

Since he is on the team, it wouldn't be right to exclude him from team events.

Yeah it was pretty stupid. Have him dress up as an elf after you reject his very fair offer of 2 years and $26 million. Wasn't a smart move to have Dickey go to that.

Well now teams are seeing that he wants out of NY and there's a clash with him and management. So they're figuring they can get him cheaper now. The comments devalued him on the trade market.

dickey has absolutley no leverage. if hes disgruntled and pitches poorly then he'll be lucky to get 8million a year.

A soft tossing 38 year old knuckleballer just isn't as valuable, Cy Young or not. That's just the reality. Power pitchers dominate in the league.
