"Jon Heyman ?@JonHeymanCBS

confirmed, its shields, davis & ptbnl for myers, odorizzi, montgomery and leonard. #rays #royals "

That is a lot to give up for Shields who has 2 years left on his contract and Davis. Mets should without a doubt look to use that as a comparison when dealing with Texas.

There goes a chance the chance for the young middle of the order bat that could change the team... Oh well. I hope Sandy tried, at the very least.

I wonder if Niese was ever offered. He should have been.

In fairness though, Shields absolutely is a better get than Dickey considering the age and years remaining. Still a hefty price to pay.

Options are dwindling. At some point soon, we have to pull the trigger on something.

Well, it isn't awful news. Myers is the guy I would have liked to have seen, but on the other hand this does force the hands of the Rangers FO.

Myers is elite, and unless Profar is being discussed the Mets will not get back something similar.

Mets asking for Olt + Leonys Martin, which would fill 2 outfield spots. If we could get that that would be a great deal.

Olt isn't really an OF, though he his a good bat. Martin is a very good OF, but may not be the impact bat the team needs... Apparently he's too raw to tell from what I've read.

Again, that's a nice package but Myers would have been ideal. Apparently KC gave up THREE other prospects as well.

Now that you mention it the deal was removed from the ticker on ESPN...

Interesting.

Reading through some of his other tweets I am starting to believe he is just messing with people.

Yep, just read it.

May be one of the worst trades I've ever seen. Royals got fleeced BIG TIME.

What a deal for the Rays. Smart organization... And now I'm slightly unhappy about Alderson. Actually, I'm severely disappointed.

With Greinke and Shields both gone, the Rangers could get pretty desperate.

Ya know what, I'm actually very upset with this FO.

Clearly, the Royals are run by a bunch of m0rons. I can't believe this deal got made... Did Alderson even try? Obviously not hard enough.

The Royals were never interested in Dickey, they wanted Niese and or Wheeler.

If you need to give up Niese (who is more than comparable to Shields) and Wheeler for THAT package, you do it.

It's too ridiculous to fathom. I can't believe this actually just happened.

This will go down as one of the worst trades in the history of baseball.
