Maybe wouldn't have been "good" but - it can't be said enough - our guys are awful. This team had the second least valuable group of outfielders in major league baseball least season. Reynolds certainly wasn't an ideal option but take a look at what's left. Unless Sandy pulls off a trade for Choo or signs Ross, chances are we're going to have something worse.

Amazingly the Astros were even worse.

Yeah, Reynolds would have been great. He's basically been Dave Kingman the last 3 years (while striking out more often, which is hard to believe).

And yes, I know, he's better than what we have.

But imo Kingman never improved any team he was on, other than possibly that one year with the Cubs. He struck out a ton, had a terrible BA, and was slightly better than a butcher in the field.

People used to pine for Adam Dunn, who at least had a very good OBP. Reynolds is a poor man's Adam Dunn.

I'm not quite sure I understand this statement. If a guy is better than what otherwise would've been thrown on the field, how did he not improve the team? Or do you just mean improve in the sense that they didn't become a winner solely because of him?
