With these new TV deals getting inked, be prepared for more teams to spend like this.
People need to realize that what was once perceived a 'bad contract' is going to become the norm, if it hasn't already.
Probably true.
But the Dodgers will be well above 200 million once they extend Kershaw... That's a lot of money. Other teams may not have AS much, but contracts are going to look different from here on out.
Aren't the Mets owners hurting right now? The new Dodger owners are likely going to pull in a 6-7 billion dollar TV contract over 25 years. So when you think about it a 200 million dollar payroll is really not that extraordinary if Fox or TWC is willing to pay that much.
I wish the Mets well in the future.
