The Mets made that up so it looks like Sandy tried to do something but the Royals were just too demanding. It's all politics for the fan base.

Why? It's not a money deal - it's a player deal.

What? What is your evidence for this illogical nonsense? You honestly Sandy is not trying to "do something"? Like he's been playing call of duty all week in cheetos stained sweats and when reporter call he just made something up on the fly to impress you? You people need to stop watching ancient aliens and get real.

No, they asked about Wheeler and they asked about Niese. Some people just have a problem with reading comprehension.

It mostly pointless even trying to talk rational to some of these people. It's like the Mets front office is darn if they do, and darned if they don't. If some of these poeple wanna sit around all day dreaming up conspiracy theories, as if Sandy doesn't have anything better to do with his time than to find new ways to lie to and screw-with fan's heads, then let them wallow in it.

To be fair though, Matt Cerrone did say that, which is where I think some may have gotten it from:

'Last night on MetsBlog Radio, which you can listen to here, I said the Royals will give top hitting prospect Wil Myers to the Mets, only if Sandy Alderson parts with Zack Wheeler in addition to Niese'

Exactly. And that information filters down from the front office. They want to put out there that they tried but the Royals were asking for an insane amount. Truth is they don't even want Wil Myers.

Sure, but then why the posturing? Eliminate the Wright deal and you'd think that the Mets FO don't really care what the fans think. This would be a move that the vast majority of "fans" would barely notice, even if it had the potential to greatly improve the team. I doubt they're going thru great lengths to appease the state of mind of the hardcore fans.
