I have no problem with teams asking for other teams' best talent. Frankly you'd be silly not to at least ask at first. The worst thing the other GM could say is just "NO".... and that happens all the time.
Myers is the #3 prospect in baseball, and so I don't blame them for asking for the moon. We would do the same if we had Wheeler on the market. Wheeler also a Top 10 prospects in the baseball, and so when teams have asked Sandy for him, he says "no".
But what they ask for, and what they might ultimately settle upon, are two different animals.
Obviously, we aren't giving up 2/3 of our future front three for Myers. Myers for Wheeler would be an even swap in terms of talent/upside in the eyes of most everyone, so them asking for Neise too is obviously asking for way too much, but I can't blame them for asking.
