NASHVILLE — As the third day of the winter meetings wound down, R.A. Dickey and the Mets found themselves at a stalemate in contract negotiations, with a substantial gap in dollars on proposals for a two-year contract, according to people with direct knowledge of the discussions.
Despite the stall in talks, the Mets are far from ruling out an eventual deal with the Cy Young Award winner on a contract extension; in fact, according to one high-ranking team source, “Sandy (Alderson) wants to sign him.”
Meanwhile, Mets insiders said that, while the team was dissatisfied with many trade proposals from other clubs, it was sitting on at least one acceptable deal.

As the Daily News has been reporting, Dickey has been asking for a two-year extension of about $13 million per season (plus the pre-existing $5 million club option for 2013), and the Mets’ current offer is well below that. While the Mets will likely raise their offer somewhat, they will not meet Dickey’s initial price of two years, $26 million.
At Wednesday’s news conference at the Opryland Hotel to announce David Wright’s eight-year contract extension, chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon reiterated earlier comments that the Mets were willing to allow Dickey to simply play out next season on the pre-existing $5 million club option, and become a free agent.
“We’re in the process now,” Wilpon said. “It’s a negotiation. They want more than we’re willing to give right now. We want to do it for less than they want to accept right now. Somewhere in between there’s probably a deal to be done. If not, he’ll be a great bargain at $5 million playing out next season for us.”
Dickey actually appeared briefly at the meetings Wednesday morning, but did not negotiate with the Mets. He congratulated Wright on his contract, and departed.

Very interested to hear what that acceptable deal is. Hopefully we hear more tomorrow.

The "acceptable" is something that is fairly subjective to everyone., but I think it fairly safe to assume that the Mets aren't sitting on an offer of Myers... lol

It could be the Dodgers Zach Lee and Dee Gordon, waiting on Grienke resolution. Saw somewhere that offer was there. On the surface it doesn't look like a fit but there seems to be talk of Gordon interest elsewhere so flip him for your OF help....or trade/move to bench Murphy,Tejada at 2B Gordon SS. Lee has been considered a top prospect,although I think lost some luster this year no longer considered ace potential. Dickey's dollars could be used on a Lannan type for the rotation.

i wouldnt hate the move,wouldnt love it. matt harvey,zach wheeler,and zach lee. with niese.maybe make a move for a more established pitcher. sweet potential. maybe dee gordon could be a swap for a outfielder or catcher.

i will always be wary of the generation k trio though so ............
