David Wright’s 2013 salary is $8m, $15m deferred until after 2020

Brian Costa of the Wall Street Journal says David Wright’s new salary in 2013 is $8 million.

Wright originally had a $16 million option as part of his previous contract which was exercised earlier in the off-season. That was voided and he signed a new, eight-year $138 million contract last week.

For everyone calling me stupid and saying Wright could not, Would not and should not lower the 2013 value.

What you were told is that he couldn't reduce the value. Deferring $15 million doesn't lower the value under $16 million.

that means mets have close to 45 million to spend to stay at the projected 100 million payroll. lets see if they actually spend it before cheering.

First I dont think the deffered moeny from this year as the report says he will be PAID 8 Mill not 16 this year, Which would mean that his contract value for 2013 is 8 not deffered, That said I also said he could deffer money and you and yours trashed me for that as well, Just be a man and admit you knew nothing.

Not really because there are a number of guys who will be getting increases but we do have money now.
