Shields is more attractive than Dickey, so the Mets would have to sweeten the deal I bet.

it depends on what the Royals REALLY want. Do they want the better pitcher (Dickey) or do they want a younger, longer term solution (Shields)

Sandy is looking for a lot, he wants Top hitting prospect (Myers) another top prospect, and possibly the back up catcher for Dickey. Sandy also will give up a pitching prospect as well.

Of course we want an integrative deal, though someone may have to compromise.

Mets give up: Dickey, Justin Turner (Royals are looking for a utility guy), Cory Mazzoni or (Mejia/Tapia)

Royals give up: Wil Myers, Jorge Bonifacio, David Lough

Mets give up their CY Young award winning pitcher who will definitely help the Royals compete in 2013 in their weak division. They receive a utility guy who can play every infield position, a pitching prospect from the Met's (not including Wheeler, Fulmer, or Montero)

Mets receive a top hitting prospect in Myers. They will also get their 16th best prospect who is only 19 years old, has good tools but is probably a few years away and The Royals outfield currently looks crowded for years to come. And a 4th outfielder essentially with speed and a bit of power. Could really even fight for the center field job at spring training.

Maybe a deal with Texas could be a 3 way deal to land Upton in NY Dickey in Texas and Elvis in Arizona

Thats putting too big a hole in our pitching, even with its depth.

We can afford to give up a pitcher, but not 2. Lets not create a hole where none exists.

What are you basing that on?

Why would the Dbacks trade Upton for one year of Dickey. More likely Kubel (one year left on contract) for Dickey.

dbacks would get andrus prob other prospects involved. texas would get dickey mets get upton.

eh it was just a thought lots of prospects go here and there the prospects the dbacks would get, the good ones that is would come from both texas and us, but more texas.

Why would Texas give up much for Dickey for one year? I don't think Dickey's value is that great short of some team being able to agree on an extension with Dickey before a trade is finalized. That's a big hurdle to overcome.
