Trading Niese straight up for ANY prospect is STUPID...

how is he a prospect? he hit 28 HR's in the MLB as a rookie catcher last year (23 years old)

He's not a prospect, he hit .270/28/71 for Colorado last season. I would be wary though, his numbers have a lot of Coors Field effect in them. On the plus side he hit 10 HRs on the road in only 200 ABs. On the down side he only hit .242 on the road vs. .297 at home.

He still projects to 25-30 HRs regardless of the park so he would be a nice get. I can't imagine Colorado would move him for a number 3 starter.

yeah I saw him play a lot last year and he doesn't hit "cheap" HR. He is a 20-25 HR guy regardless of the park.

He just doesn't walk much and strikes out a lot. Also he is not known for being the greatest defensive catcher either.

But remember catchers are so hard to come by tack more value regardless because there are so few quality catchers.
