Just signing this guy, avoiding a rebuild and basically never surrounding him with more than scrap-heap level talent won't freaking cut it. In many ways it's an even worse option than losing him for draft picks.
This franchise didn't want to make a hard choice to start the future now? Ok, so be it. These guys are here but our lousy ownership and mediocre GM better put TALENT around them. This week will really tell if signing Wright was just a sop to the fanbase to sell some tickets to the chumps. I'll give them a chance to show us if this is a legit commitment to winning or typical Wilpon hijinks. I know what my money is on....
But we know Wilpons are having money issues and they owe Santana and Bay almost 50 million dollars in 2013, so the ONLY option is to use players from the farm system and i am sure you know all about that by now.
This was a business decision, without Wright people simply would stop coming to see the team, but this is a bad baseball decision because David will have his best years as a players when the team is rebuilding and really will not contend.
