No. I'm not that guy. It was finalized at about 3:18 today and now they're waiting for a prime time moment to announce it. Might be Sunday night. Might be during Christmas. I have no idea when that'll be.

I don't pay attention to inside source stories, but what you are saying could make sense. I don't understand what there is to balk at in this deal. If Wright doesn't except the offer, not only would it then be fair to call him a liar for all the talk about wanting to remain a Met for life, but also it would be an inept business decision to leave that kind of money on the table. That's a lot of risk for little gain.

Not really. Typically, deferment refers to money paid after the main contract period is over.

Nope, not redundant, it's two different things. Back-loaded means the salary is low on the front-end and high on the back-end. The deferred money is a portion of each year's salary that won't be paid out until years after the contract expires.

He's getting $16 million next year regardless of an extension or no extension. It was part of his previous contract.
