Good luck to Bay, who ALWAYS played the game hard. He never once complained about his role on the team or took his batting woes into the field. He hustled on every ball.....he just lost it all.

Good luck

According to Jon Heyman he is getting his full pay. We didn't save any money

It could possibly be deferred though which will free up A lot of payroll. Also does full pay include his buyout?

I would assume so or the Players Association would step in.

I wonder if he felt bad an agreed to take a big cut for this last year so he can part ways.

He looks like the kind of guy who would do that.

According to MLB Trade Rumors it's a total of $21 million. $16 salary + $2 signing bonus money + $3 buy out for a total of $21 million. It says part is deferred, but I would assume that is the signing bonus money and buy out.

He is gone.. I think it was time. BUT we are paying his full salary so on the books he is still on our team.
no room to spend with that.

Yup.

"The Mets and Jason Bay have agreed to an early expiration of his contract, making him a free agent. The team announced the move in a press release. Joel Sherman of The New York Post reports (on Twitter) that Bay will receive all $21MM left on his contract, though some of it is being deferred. Bay is represented by Joe Urbon at CAA Sports."

MLBPA would never allow a player to less then he is signed for.
Remember when Arod was traded to the Red Sox the players association voided the trade because Arod agreed to redo the contract with the Red Sox. The PA said that he had lowered the value of the existing contract and voided.

is it against the rules to have a world series parade in the offseason because it feels like we just won one.

FINALLY THIS LOSER IS GONE
