Can someone tell me why the team would not, at a minimum, have him come in for ST?

Yeah, more than likely more of the same, but I dont understand why they would not have him come back and try and compete for a position?

They are deferring the contract so that they won't have to pay his full amount this year.

It frees up a lot of space this offseason.

"but I dont understand why they would not have him come back and try and compete for a position?"

Good question, but maybe the Mets, like pretty much every Met fan, does not want to see him in uniform ever again.

I dont put that on Bay, I put that on the manager. Sure Bay stunk, but running him out there every day was more of an indication of poor management, rather than Bay's inadequacies.

I mean same difference, but they should have done this a while ago.

"I dont put that on Bay, I put that on the manager. "

Assuming the manager had a choice, then yes, I agree.

This is a great move. I didn't think they would do it because of the money. I was hoping Melky would come here and share his, um, trainer, with Bay. Just kidding. Bay was awful, this is addition by subtraction.
