When I first saw the story online, I thought it was satire from The Onion. I should have known better.

You just know it was from doing something stupid.

Moving furniture...

More like too excited high five after scoring a TD in Madden '13

I guess we're stuck with him in 2013. Grrreat. NOT.

It might turn out good I mean if Duda ever lives up to his 35HR-40HR potential I could live with his defensive deficiencies (he's not that bad in LF).

It would be wonderful if Duda hit that many home runs for the Mets. Sadly, I just can't see it happening. He seems to have too many holes in his swing and he doesn't have a strong enough knowledge of the strike zone. I'd have to see him in left field as much as he was in right field before I'd think he was much better defensively speaking. He doesn't strike me as being athletic enough or have the necessary baseball smarts to be a good defensive player. First base seems like the only spot for him and with Ike there (and hopefully he'll still be there in 2013), that puts Duda in the outfield again.

I have moved lots of furniture, and not only have I never broken a wrist, I have never even HEARD of someone breaking a wrist from moving furniture. This will be his (and some fans) excuse for stinking from now on.

We seem to have this conversation every few months.

Duda is no longer a kid, in fact he is entering his 'prime' years. He's your classic AAAA player. He's a fringe starter at best, and he would have gotten back nothing in a trade. Every team has a Lucas Duda languishing somewhere in their system.

The weird thing is that it wasn't really all that long ago (maybe pre 80's) that many ballplayers really DID have to work a job in the off season to make ends meet. The salaries are ridiculous but it is what it is and I won't begrudge them getting what they can
