    • Prediction: Troy Glaus signs with Mets

Something tells me Omar Minaya and the front office will look to sign him to platoon him with Murphy. I remember hearing from Adam Rubin they will be looking for a Right-handed power bat to platoon with Murphy perhaps and Troy Glaus seems to be Omar's player. I am not a fan of Troy Glaus though as he seemingly gets injured all the time but when he's healthy, he's proved to be a potential power bat in your lineup. I recall from the Mets beat writers there is no possible indications Murphy will get the full-time-gig at first base in '10. What do you guys think about Glaus posssibly signing with the Mets?

As long as he is our throw in signing, and as long as he signs for cheap, I could live with Glaus and Holliday as our offensive off season moves. Plus I think he lives in NJ so I could see him signing with the Mets. Give him an incentive laden contract, why not. He just turned 33 this year so there is still some possible potential. The only problem is I am not sure how good he would be at first base.

I'd rather put my trust and the Wilpon's money into Garret Adkins. He is less injury-prone and has better position versatility.

i think this would be a great move..IF it will be a platoon between him and murphy, hes healthy and can be that power hitter off the bench, and hes cheap. if so this would be a very good move for the mets

If Omar signs Glaus he's digging his own grave. Glaus is done. I've always liked Atkins but don't want him til he's non-tendered. salary is too high. Chard Tracy is free agent or also Garko may be non tendered. Gonna be a lot of non tenders out there this year.

He's done??? How do you justify that. He was injured this year and only had 39 ABs but the year before that he still hit .270 with 27 HRs and 99 RBI and an .855 OPS. I would definitely sign him for cheap.

If Murphy isn't going to be a full time player, then what the heck are they going to do with him. Enough messing around with young players careers. Start the guy everyday or trade him. Do the kid a favor, for the sake of his career.

My bad, didn't remeber Glaus is a FA, but he better be healthy. Don't be sending him to Reyes Dr.

I think Atkins would be a fine addition as well. Although he's struggled pretty mildly this year we should go after him if he can be signed for the cheap.

No platoon for Murphy. The kid has to play everyday. He is a keeper, future all-star, first ballot hall of famer. I read Marty Noble's story at the Mets site.

"The club has a degree of interest in affording Delgado a chance, but such a move would be inconsistent with the high regard for Daniel Murphy that exists in some offices -- including the manager's -- at Citi Field."

? Some Offices--including the manager's? Jeff's? Fred's? Omar's?

I'm with you on this. The Mets should just give Daniel Murphy a full time gig for first base to see what he's really all about. I was just stating that Adam Rubin and some other Mets beat writers don't think the Mets will go with Murphy.

Personally I would move Murphy to 2B where he belongs. But none the less you can not be messing around with a young kids career. Manuel made the #1 biggest no no move this year. You never ever ever ever ever ever ever put a player under age 26 in a back up role. This is common sense baseball 101. For that alone Manuel should be fired. Heck he should be fined for stupidity as well. Manuel is the dumbest manager I have ever seen. He makes Willie look like Bobby Cox. If a so called manager doesn't know the #1 basic rule of the game then he doesn't belong in pro ball. Not only should he be fired and fined but he should be banished from the game.

It's not a terrible move, but I think the Mets (after this past season) may stay away from players with injury histories...and if I'm Glaus i would not sign if I had to platoon with Murphy.

If we do sign him it will be a plus he can only help offensively.

The Mets have an unflattering history of signing or trading for players past their primes, and this looks no different. Why can't this team learn from its mistakes?

Glaus would be a waste of money and time.
