Okay, lets say that you are Omar Manaya and you have carte blanche over improving the Mets, just like he has now (ha ha ha yeah right, okay I can dream, right??) anyway, you have been handed a blank checkbook and can make up to 5 moves, but you must guarantee ownership a world series and nothing short of it via trades or free agent signings or your job is on the line. Remember that the dimensions of Citifield seem to affect a lot of power hitters and we do need speed in the outfield and depth on the bench and in the bullpen. What moves would you make and lets see your opening day line-up, bench and pitching that will make us world champs in 2010.

Assuming money isn't an issue (I WISH),

1) Sign Matt Holliday

2) Sign John Lackey

3) Sign Benji Molina

4) Sign Randy Wolf

5) Sign Orlando Hudson - Trade Castillo even if you have to assume most of his salary.

i agree with 1,2,3 and if it's Bay over Holliday that's fine......I don't really care about Wolf however if they use one of their pitchers like Maine to be traded with Castillo(if possible) then sign Wolf and Hudson.....That's my only caveat with your 4 and 5

I want Wolf because of all the lefty hitters in the NL East.

Yes lets pay 12-14 Million for Hudson when we can pay 6 for Castillo... People have to stop with the Castillo hatred.

why did Torre bench Hudson anyway?

Because he hit .253 with 31 RBI and 36 Runs the the last four months of the season.

I am not against Wolf and he would be okay once a# 2 guy is secured.....But all I was saying is that the list of pitchers is already long (Santana,Pelfry,Perez,Maine,Niese,Nieves) and if you add in a#2 guy you would have 7 potentially decent starters...He is fine however

What about Xavier Nady, he is a free agent. Would you sign him for outfield? Can he play first base?

if he is healthy ,he'd be okay but they need more than Nady.....They need a Bay or Holliday....home runs were pathetic last year

I agree but Mets need to pkg some of those guys in a trade. Someone suggested King Felix Hernandez. Whatever it takes to get him would be fine. Rotation needs a do over.

We need pop off the bench and better relievers. I'd keep Pedro Feliciano. If we dont resign Putz, we need someone reliable to hand the ball to Rodriguez. We need a 7th and 8th inning guy to get the ball to our closer. I'm not comfortable with Sean Green and Bobby Parnell. Any relievers available to anyone's knowledge?

Niese should be kept but not at the expense of Mejia or other prospects. Niese is considered MLB ready.
