Well Chase Utley couldn't do what Chase Utley has done now, when he was Wright's age.

Utley has 5 full seasons just like Wright has 5 full seasons, Wright is far from a rookie... if thats what your implying? Please.

Chase Utley is a winning player and David Wright is a choker, period.

Why not? Chase Utley is having a tremendous WS. 5 HRs, in a groove. There have been others to shine in October. Utley has 5 HRs in the series but a total of 6 for the entire post season. So, where was he in the division and league championship series.

Is he a more prolific home run hitter than Howard, Arod, etc. no, but he's on a heck of a run.

Utley and Wright are two different players. Utley has so much more talent than Wright. I'm a diehard Mets fan, but the truth is that Wright isn't in the same class as Utley. Any mets fan that disputes that is just lying to themselves.

Yet Wright has better career numbers across the board (save for HR) than does Utley. And is 4 years younger. Utley is awesome and is more valuable than Wright because of his position. But people really need to stop selling David Wright short. He has been as good as anyone in the game who played five full seasons before his 27th birthday.

Why are we even having this conversation? Troll thread started by a Wright hater. Move along, nothing to see.

exactly, people have real short memories, remember his first two or three years in the league when he was the best two strike hitter in the game , was unbelievably clutch and everyone here wanted him as the guy up in a big spot , so the talent is there for him to be better than utley , he just needs to get back to his mindset of 3 years ago , whether he can do that or not is the question but the talent is absolutely there...........................

He'll be fine. You don't just "lose it" at age 26. The entire team was killed by injuries. Utley has never had to be pretty much the only legitimate major league hitter in a lineup like Wright was in 2009.

I'll admit, it was disconcerting to see his power all but disappear, but there is no precedent in the game for that to happen and have it be anything other than a fluke year. It actually happened to Mike Schmidt at the same age.

Yes. Why not?

Got any compelling evidence, or just a negative gut feeling?

And no, I'm not snorting or stamping my feet. Stop being so melodramatic about the folks who like DW.

Dude....you pick an accomplishment that has only been acheived by 1 other player in history, and you use it as a negative against Wright??

What????

So, I guess that puts Wright in the shamed group with.....EVERYBODY ELSE!!!

They aren't in the same class. David Wright will never be the hitter Utley is. I would rather have Chase over David any day of the week. That's how good he is. Now he is proving it on the biggest stage.

You can have Wright. For me, it's a no-brainer.

Stop. He's had 4 more years than David to work on his skils.

When Utley first came up, he looked like he couldn't shine Daniel Murphy's shoes. He was horrid. Give David, who is 4 years younger, a little time before making such delarations.

No-brainer is the key word in this post.

Wright has the talent to do it.

... mind set? .... probably not considering he let Citifield mess with his mind which then messed with his swing.
