    • We Need Power in 2010. We NEED Carlos Delgado.

AND Matt Holliday/Jason Bay. *One* power bat won't be enough. We have to have 2, 3 even 4 legitimate power threats. Why? Because I don't see us landing Roy Halladay or John Lackey (according to all the rumors).

If we can't outpitch our opponents we need to outslug them. If Delgado gets injured, we have some of your guys naked fantasy boy, Daniel Murphy.

1. Reyes SS
2. Castillo 2B
3. Beltran CF
4. Delgado 1B
5. Holliday LF
6. Wright 3B (until he proves '09 was a fluke)
7. Francoeur RF
8. Thole/Santos C

Sign him to a 1-yr., $4M base, HEAVILY-laden incentive contract ($10M in performance bonuses, if he reaches them, WHO CARES?!, he'll have done his job).

We were 1st in the NL in hitting/AVG, 3rd in OBP. And yet, only 4 teams scored fewer runs than we did. Enough of this station-to-station baseball. We need that HR, fellas and Carlos is the easiest (and SAFEST) way to get 'em...

What makes you think he will be in 2008 form a year older and after a hip operation ?

I don't trust Minaya, he'll probably give him a 6 year deal. But it allows us to focus on other places, so it's not the worst idea. As long as they have Ike Davis ready if Delgado doesn't do the job.

Definately without a doubt.

Go for Bay/Halliday for LF ... . resign Delgado.

Pray Beltran, Reyes stay healthy

Pray Wright relearns how to hit the long ball.

really liking that line-up i think we could go far with it, maybe even throw murphy in a trade for ryan doumit to catch for us until thole is ready.
sign harden to a 1 year 7 mil deal and marquis to a 3 year 28 mil contract and we have a rotation.

I like that because it holds the fort for our farm system to develop.

2008 was not a good year for Delgado. He was horrible the first half and they were chanting dump Delgado…his second half surge was impressive but ultimately too little too late to pull them out of the hole he dug….

Overall in the last 3 years Delgado has had ½ o a good season, and when he slumped he was so bad everyone wanted him run out of town…remember ”Dump Delgado”…..

"his second half surge was impressive but ultimately too little too late to pull them out of the hole he dug…."

What?? Mets were in first place in late September, mainly because of Delgado's surge.

38 homers and 115 rbis isnt too little too late. We can use him as a rental until Ike is ready, its a great idea to sign him.

Except for C. I don't like Thole/Santos platoon.

With the rest of our projected lineup, Thole and Santos would not kill us as a platoon.

I'd still be happier with a solid catcher for a 1/2 year deal.

1. Castillo
2. Reyes
3. Beltran
4. Delgado (if he appears healthy and productive)
5. Bay/Holliday
6. Wright (until he relearns how to hit the long ball)
7. Francour
8. Thole/Santos
9. Pitcher ...

... I am not sure I like all the righties at the bottom of the lineup. But I wouldn't want Wright hitting 3rd or 4th for now either .....

Holliday is a better pure hitter than Bay so if you get Holliday ... I could put him third and Beltran 5th ... to blance it a bit ...

Best thing that can happen is Wright comes back to being GREAT again ... and then it would be easy ...

Castillo
Reyes
Wright
Delgado
Halliday
Beltran
Francouer
Tholes/Santos

You can flip flop Beltran and Delgado batting 4th and 6th depending on which is hitting with more power.

---"What?? Mets were in first place in late September, mainly because of Delgado's surge."----

The Mets were about 10 games below their potential in September, mainly b/c Delgado laid down the first half...

"38 homers and 115 rbis isnt too little too late"--

Yes it was, see the results.

If it wasnt for all of those 0-5's with an error in the field (formally known as a Delgado) under Willie who knows....

You still cannot blame Delgado because when Delgado finally started to hit ... he wasn't just hitting well ... he was the BEST hitter in the NL the rest of the year.

None of us were expecting that type of performance from Delgado.

He carried the Mets almost single handily until August when Beltran got super hot himself.
