You know it....We should predict how many delays will this years world series have. Nonetheless its gonna be decided soon and as much as I dont care for the Yankees, I dont want to see Phillies repeating. Im not sure but if they do repeat, gotta be honest theyre gonna be a forgotten repeaters in my opinion...hence 92' 93' Blue Jays

Phillies repeating is a HUGE deal, MLB wont forget due to the fact that there arent many who repeat. I really hope Phillie can win and keep the Yankees out of another WS Title, they are still way ahead of everyone else with 26 titles, keep em off for as long as possible.

I hope to see some emotion from both teams, benches clearing would be sweet! Watch out for the "Who's your daddy" chants on game 2! lol

*sigh* I guess I gotta say it...GO PHILLIES!

The Phillies won it last year, not that bad of a bet if you ask me.

Your team has proven twice in recent history that wild card teams/teams with 90ish wins can win it all. The last time the Yankees were in the series your fish beat them, with only a 91 win regular season. The Yanks had 101. Infact, these Phillies seem to have the same attitude those Marlins teams had, which is why they have a great shot. (if they lose, it won't be because they "choked".)

Honestly, I want the Yankees to win. We're all used to the obnoxious Yanks fan who always brags about their titles, but once the Phillies get ahead of the Marlins in terms of how many World Series titles they have in franchise history, well I don't want to have to hear that Phillies fan. I still like to say that even though the Phillies have been in existence over a hundred years more than the Marlins, they still only have as many titles as the Fish. Same goes for the Mets, who have 30 years more than the Fish. Heck, even the Braves have only three series titles with all their years over the Fish, just don't want the Phillies to join that company.

I'm rooting against the phills, but I just can't bring myself to root for the yanks. I feel dirty just typing that. If only they could both lose. What a perfect place the world would become. :)

GO FISH!!! PHILLS SSUUCCKK!!!!

I will sheepishly root for Philly, as I just despise the Evil Empire.

That being said, somewhat echoing rsanchez1, if the Phils surpass the Fish in WS rings, (and I have already said this) the Philly trolls will overrun this board with "Ha ha, we have more rings than your silly Fishies" or sumpn like that. Mark it down. In fact, I suggest that this page be bumped when the first poster does it.....because I am not dignifying replying to it. I like to think I'm above that.

Ph1llyfan, you are one of the better ones.

Both the Phillies and Yanks have their "better fans", the knowledgeable and smart ones (every team has them). But then you have the "other" type, the ones who believe anything heard or written by the home town press, whose intellect can barely go beyond trash talk or are accomplished commuters on the teams' "bandwagon"( all teams have them too) .

For Marlin fans, don't worry if some Phillies' fans go on with their childish taunts of having a 3rd series ring. Just remember, they're the 1st franchise to lose 10,00 games (no offensive to Philadelphia fans). The simple fact is, that team has been around for 100 years.

As for Yankee fans (and I am a native New Yorker, neither a Met or Yankee fan), taunt all you want, but you'll never shake that 2004 nightmare of losing 4 straight after taking the 1st three games. They are a class organization, without question, sadly, some of their fans can't be as classy. (It's kind of funny how they always throw that "We have 26 Championships" line out at everyone. That's in the past, last century, and no one is going to deny them that. Those same fans claim to have been lifelong Yankee fans but can barely name anyone from their dreadful years of the late '60's, early '70's or '82-'90. And no, George Costanza doesn't count.)

What I can't understand is if the Yanks should take the Series, how can you get all giddy and celebratory? After all, 1/4 of a billion dollars was spent on 3 players. The Yanks have to be the only team in MLB who can afford to do this. Unlike the Yanks of '96 and '98, this would have been "bought"! Kinda makes the Marlins' win in '03 extra-extra sweet! How refreshing it was to see a handful of veterans and bunch of kids, just having fun, playing a series no one expected them to reach, playing 6 games with hardly a care in the world.

For now, we've got the 2 teams that have played the best, now let's watch them go head to head. Most of all, let's hope we have the umpiring that's of the upmost quality, and not have the type of officiating best seen in the WWE.

So Play Ball!! and let's enjoy.

Thank you. I'm too old to care about what teams did X amount of years ago. It's all about the present. The Marlins have always been all the Phils can handle, which makes them a better team. (and us to you as well.) Most of these trolls are young people I hope, because even at my 38 it seems a bit juvenile to troll boards trying to get a rise out of people.

I came to the Marlins site because I wanted to look up stats from their championship years. Now that the Phils have at least 1 series victory in RECENT years, I have no problem routing for any NL team that makes it. We definately need a salary cap in baseball so teams like the yanks and sox don't keep getting there all of the time. That's pretty much the only reason I'm so anti-yankee.

Only an idiot would brag about 3 titles in franchise history! Seriously, you are worried about something so silly... lol! The only "dynasty" baseball team in Philly left town many decades ago (late 20s-early 30s Athletics toyed with Ruth and Gehrig's Yankees.)

CC did not live up to all the hype yesterday. I still remember when he couldn't handle the South Florida heat and had to exit barely into the game. The Marlins owned the Yankees in that game, despite the fact that Volstad was on the mound and Girardi had to file a protest against Fredi's sloppy managing to try to salvage the game.

"The only "dynasty" baseball team in Philly left town many decades ago"

The Phillies are close to winning it again, if they keep it up this team could be a dynasty for sure.

2 WS in 2 years would be amazing, even if they dont win the 3rd one right away its still the closest thing to a dynasty in baseball right now. If the Phillies win 3 WS in 5 years I'll consider them a dynasty for sure!

GAME 2 is around the corner!

looks like the yAnkS will take a 2-1 series lead...........joe blanton pitches game 4 for the phillies. if only cliff lee could pitch all seven games for the phills, that would be a lot eaiser.

Well, tonight Lidge worked his usual "magic".....if any consolation, it looks as if the Phillie trolls won't be bothering this board.

This was looking like the Marlins-Yankees series in '03 in that the Yankees had a 2-1 lead and the Marlins' closer blowing a save. The difference is that the Marlins came back to win and then never looked back.
