The question I want to ask...Is Dan Uggla gonna be a free agent? For how many more years if so?
Cause if the FO decides for Uggla not to come back in 2010, trading him is an option to get someone else in return. Dont get me wrong I would love to see Uggla come back next season or better yet for his whole career. Im just curious to know whats up with his contract.

As a person that wants the Marlins to succeed, I want to trade Uggs.

As a Marlins fan, I want to keep him.

uggla and cantu are in an either/or situation. they won't keep both i don't think. heck, they might both be gone. but one of them and hermida are surely gone.

out of uggla, ross, cantu and hermida they will probably only keep one. i dont know about you guys, but i would prefer cody ross. its great to have a second baseman that can hit 30 + hrs. but ross is so great in the outfield and when he is hot, he can be the marlins second best hitter. maybe the fish let go of uggs to move coghlan to second.....who knows......as long as bonifraud is not in the lineup next year, i guess i will be happy.

As long as we keep one, I am happy. One of the best defensive CF's in the game with pop or a solid 2B with pop.

I do not expect either Uggla, Cantu, or Ross to be here next year.

As much as i like Dan Uggla, he will simply cost too much. For a player who makes a bunch of errors, strikes out a ton, and hits for a very low average, i dont think its worth paying him what i'm sure he'll ask. Id like to have Cantu and Ross back. Cantu is the most clutch hitter we have and Cody still has an upside. I'll be a happy camper as long as Bonifraud, Hermida, Pinto, and Volstad aren't back next year.

Yeah, I do hear ya about Uggla. But he has raised his OBP a lot this year, to .354, and those 92 walks are huge. And when you take out 30 HRs and 90 RBIs from the line up, you are gonna feel the loss, trust me. Not to mention the team leadership. This is a team with no leader. Hanley is certainly not a leader. In fact if they are going to keep Hanley, they absolutely will need somebody to kick his butt from time to time. Do not discount this aspect of the whole thing! A Hanley with no one around to keep him in check would be a disaster.

If they move that many players it will be a miracle not to see boner at a starting spot somewhere.

GO FISH!!! 09 AND BEYOND!!!!

I would love to see Uggla still here because he is very hard to replace that talk where Fredi said he is not gonna move Coghlan to second and blah blah blah. He was thinking Uggla will still be with the team. But if Uggla decides to go somewhere we have an internal option with Coghlan. I know Hermida they are not keeping he has been a disappointment since he was drafted he didn't turn out to be the player he was going to be the next Paul O'Neill instead he is going to be the next Ben Grieve. Gaby Sanchez can play first base they say he is going to be a complete hitter. As for left field Logan Morrison can fill that spot since first base is going to be taken and the league says he turn out to have a nice career like Kent Hrbek. Fredi Gonzalez doesn't have a saying in this team development. While the league is saying Gaby Sanchez us going to have nice career like Garret Atkins. It's going to be a nice 2010 season looking into the 2012 season. Jorge Cantu and Cody Ross is not going to be around.

I think people are assuming too often about prospects becoming studs (regardless of how many people in baseball think they will be great). I've seen both Gaby and Logan play in the minors for a while now, and they definitely both have some great qualities as baseball players. But to assume that a prospect is going to perform at a certain level on the major league club just because you read it on some forum, or BA or whatever......well you're setting yourself up for a disappointment eventually. I don't expect much from Gaby. Maybe he'll be as good as Mike Jacobs. They both are free swingers with some pop. I have much higher expectations from watching Logan though. He reminds me of a young Todd Helton, though admittedly not quite as sharp with the glove yet. He doesn't have the pop most teams want from their 1st baseman, but I think he can be a consistent producer at the major league level by making the most of his at bats and getting on base. He has an amazing feel for the strikezone for a kid his age and I think that will serve him well as he ascends to the big leagues. Obviously, I wish only success for everyone in the Marlins organization and I hope that they all exceed expectations.

Go Marlins!!!

Please can someone knock the Phillies out of the playoffs already!!

THANK YOU!!! I agree with just about everything in that post. I haven't seen Logan but Gaby does look anything like a stud to me. Still, I hope I wrong on that. Why are innocent people being forced to view a phils vs yanks WS. Now I have to root for the evil empire because I cannot root for the phils.

GO FISH!!! PHILLIES MUST DIE!!!!
