So Casilla got the save. But would Romo ever have thrown a pitch down the middle of the plate like that to Reddick? Casilla it's 94 mph, not 99 mph! In a close game, 1 run or 2 run lead, I cringe every time he comes in and those who say you don't aren't being honest, or are partially braindead. This is how Casilla steals his strikes and when he doesn't, the hitters are trying to square them up and are either fouling them off or hitting them over the outfield fence. if he didn't have that curve working somewhat tonight the Giants lead would have been toast! Too bad it can't be closer by committee, the idea Bochy at first toyed with. I'm all for Casilla, with a 3 run lead, the traditional closer limit and Romo closing out a 1 or 2 run lead. And before Let's Go Zito (did you change to Belt, by the way?) says MLB managers don't handle their pitching staff that way; I can say that I can dream can't I?

Well you are the king of exaggeration. Sorry, don't know who you are quoting, but I never would expect the closer to be that efficient. Willy wasn't, although it sure didn't seem like he gave up the longball like Casilla does. They would hit Wilson around a bit, before he got the nail biter closed out. My point, as always is Casilla is scary and dangerous in a very close game. Maybe if he could get some good coaching on how to throw his average fastball, with more movement or better placement, we could all feel more comfortable. Maybe Romo could work with him, Lol!

Rhetorical questions are always a fun waste of time on message boards, thanks.

Thanks to the Giants insurance run, yes. Just 'cause you only believe in the bottom line, doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. I am positive his blown to save ratio at the end of the year will be higher than Wilson's. And also remember I also go on games he cost the Giants, when he wasn't in a closer capacity, which he wasn't at the start of the season.

Casilla 20 saves out of 21. 1.59 ERA. Whip 1.02.
Yeah, horrible.

Yeah I know NVA! Three straight sub 2.00 ERA seasons, DFA Casilla! Some people who post here, such as the culprit who started this thread, are an embarrassment to baseball and its fans. At least fans from other teams who come here will see that most of these jokers only have a handful of posts and are probably just trolls seeking attention.

how about no..the guy has a 1 whip and should be perfect on saves this season if it wasn't for Pagan running a crop circle route on ishikawas game tying double (that ball should have been camped under for an easy out, such a routine lazy fly ball)....the reason reddick got a pitch to hit out was there was a 2 run lead....you notice how he went low and below the knees against cespedes after the game was narrowed to a 1 run lead? you wouldn't, because you aren't paying attention to the game....you have the bases empty and a 2 run lead, you make the other team swing the bat, you don't risk a walk...reddick got aggressive and padded his stats in the end...casilla did his job..he owned cespedes and gomes for the save..

Let's do a comparison of Brian Wilson, 2010 World Championship Season to Casilla 2012.

Casilla 20 of 21 saves, Brian Wilson 48 of 53 saves. Percentage wise Casilla better.

Casilla 1-2 1.59 ERA whip 1.02
Wilson 3-3 1.81 ERA whip 1.19

Pretty comparable. Wilson gave us a heart attack on more than one occasion even in 2010, no one is like steroid aided Gagne of previous years in LA.

Casilla is doing a great job. Romo is doing a fine job as set up. Bochy just needs to let Romo pitch the whole 8th inning instead of yanking him if he lets one guy get on. If the Giants go too many games in a row with Casilla pitches, then put Romo in to spell him. In the mean time, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hey m.o.r.o.n, I said he hasn't closed all year, so the save/ blown save ratio isn't the whole story. He has given up 4 late inning homers and 2 have cost the Giants the game and one could of if they hadn't come back. So stat boy, whose stats are better, Casilla's or Romo's? I rest my case, 'cause Romo is the safer bet in a close game.

Again Casilla hasn't just closed all year. He has blown 2 games, giving up homers and would have blown another had the Giants not come back. He will have more blown saves than Willy, I'll bet you and Romo is a safer pitcher giving up less late game HR's and he has better pitching stats.

Why are you insulting, I didn't insult you, I did not say you were stupid. Lay off the insults.

Casilla has more than one pitch, has made more appearances, has pitched more innings, and of course has more opportunities to make mistakes as he has pitched more. Romo has a slider. Wilson pitched very little, that is why Casilla has pretty much been the closer all season. Sure, Romo has great stats, in the role he has been given. He's never been a closer for the Giants, how do you know he'll be just as good in a role he has not had in the majors. Why shake up what is working.

Casilla has been very solid all year. The only fault he has is getting too fastball happy. When he mixes up his pitches he's more effective. He isn't perfect, but he's the best we have, and considering we lost B Weez, he's a nice alternative.

I don't think Romo can pitch everyday in a closer's role. All those sliders will blow out his arm.
