This is the group that supposedly has adapted to American life. This is the group that my buddies on the left keep telling me contribute so much to society. Yet nearly 1 in 2 is collecting welfare

I don't see that as relevant. They are simply Americans collecting welfare.

I think it is more important to see the new study that shows that over 100M people in this country collect some sort of federal welfare...SS and medicare are not included in that figure since they are not techically welfare programs.

Public education is the biggest welfare program.

So if we are going broke......and its bad enough natural born americans use welfare at about a 25% clip.....but we know the best of immigrants use it at a 43% clip......maybe we should sorta attempt to limit how many more immigrants come.....since we cant afford to support any more people and all

I suppose you could see it that way if you want. But I was talking specifically about federal welfare, not local/state level. we could argue about the DOE and federal money going to schools...but let's just say on average that local taxes pay for local schools.

it is for legal and illegal immigrants.....they are not just American's on welfare......

You can break down Americans into lots of various groups and statistical categories. But I don't think that limiting those people based on those classifications is a good choice. Give everyone the same opportunities, and reduce/elimitate deficit spending.

that's interesting since we don't even know how many illegals that are in the country. But we can calculate the number of them collecting welfare? How is that possible? How can a study determine that but the government can't. Or is it because they aren't willing to....? Besides, that new EE from President Obama will give many illegals citizenship who fall into this category.

Local taxes paying for schools isn't even my main point. There are people with no children or one child who pay the same as those with numerous children. It's the largest subsidy that's "acceptable" by the masses. Education gets a free pass but health care doesn't. One is socialism one isnt'.
I think we accept both or reject both.

How much sales tax could they be paying if they're on welfare? Also, I love that "sales tax" argument. Why is it, you and I are paying income tax(heard the stupid arguments from the left that I actually don't but my accountant would say they're full of sh##) but illegals just paying sales tax is enough for them. Yet, we're hearing that romney doesn't pay "his fair share" on his income. They can't figure out which argument they want to use.

At an average of lets say 7% sales tax, they would have to buy about 100g worth of stuff per year just to pay for what it costs to educate ONE of their 6 kids

What I love is, your "property tax" goes to the schools but you pay very little unless you buy a home. Pay "property taxes" for a school that you may never even have a kid in and people that don't pay taxes use for years.

None of the folks that want to see waves and waves of immigrants from all over coming here have happened upon this thread
