Nice to see a Chicago GM doing something. Do you think Kenny Williams worried about Dye's feelings on this matter?

Also, looks like the Teahan deal did not come through yet......

What the heck are you talking about? You want the Cubs to let go of productive RBI guys?

If that reported deal of Getz and Fields comes to fruition, that is a bad deal for the White Sox.

What deal?

"Nice to see a Chicago GM doing something."

It's better to do nothing than if this is the "something". But then again you always have been a fan of pushing random buttoms just for the sake of action. You would make an absolutely horrendous manager, in any facet of work.

Williams has a ring. I trust him more than Hendry.

Wait, they won a WS a few years back. Obviously he knows what he's doing...And I hate Sox fans.

I have three words for Cubs fans: Soriano, Fukudome, Bradley.

Before bashing other GM's in baseball, bash yours first.

Edit- Sorry padreramirez that was meant for all, not just you.

And Kenny offered Fukudome more money than Hendry did

At least Bradley and soriano were coming off great seasons. Williams went out a picked up Rios ugly contract knowing he stunk

The Sox are stagnant and Williams knows this, so he's mixing things up. Amazing how Dye didn't have a NTC? How did Kenny pull that off?

If you want to complain about Hendry being bad, fine. but dont make Williams out to be a good GM

when you see a team win 1 WS in the middle of a bunch of mediocrity, uusually it means that the GM didnt exactly build a powerhouse

He rode a bunch of guys like Cotts, Politte, and Hermanson, who had never done anything before 2005, and never did anything after 2005. When a team has its entire pitching staff all have career years at the same time, good things usually happen

Dye did have a NTC clause if they picked up his option. He had a full NTC this year. Think before you post for a change.

"but dont make Williams out to be a good GM"

I have that arguement with people all the time that praise him. Now with the Swisher deals and a couple other bad ones under his belt, he's a bit more exposed to not being this "genius" of a GM. The Rios deal was plain stupid! I don't care if they didn't give up anything.....that's a lot of dough for a guy who at his best for the past couple years is mediocre.

Dont be ridiculous. If it helps you sleep better at nite, fine. But dont shortchange a WS accomplishment by saying "mediocrity". Totally Bogus. That team deserved the rings, and breezed thru the post season on extraordinary pitching. Doubtful you'll ever see such dominance in a post season ever again.

" That team deserved the rings, and breezed thru the post season on extraordinary pitching."

And some extremely bad calls that were more than questionable....but sure, they deserved the rings. I do agree that the team was mediocre, but that doesn't matter in the playoffs. They got hot at the right time behind some great pitching.

and here we are 4 years later

Cotts is garbage
Poliite is garbage
Garland is garbage
Hermanson is out of baseball
contreras is garbage

so half of that dominating pitching staff is garbage, and has been pretty much garbage ever since the WS. Getting them all to be great for the same season is more luck than skill

come to think of it, there are only 2 guys from that pitching staff most teams would even want only 4 years later (Buerhle, jenks).

And cooincidentally, Jenks value is now in the same place where Jenks spends the majority of his time....in the <shitter.
