Sounds like it's a done deal. He's shipped for Chris Getz and Josh Fields.
Thoughts?

I've always liked Teahen....doesn't sound like a bad deal.

Mark Teahen is okay but I think Josh Fields can be just as good. Getz is not bad either. The Sox must be really high on Teahen because Fields and Getz both may end up being as good as if not better than Teahen.

Thats a terrible trade.

Mark taehen is awful and I dont see how he can be a starter. Doesnt hit for power, low OBP low Rbis. he's just not good.

Actually it's a pretty good trade for the White Sox. Don't be fooled into thinking Getz doesn't s*ck and Fields hasn't been going anywhere but backwards for awhile...

I just heard the white sox are too trying to trade Milton Bradley.

Peavy... Teahen...

I like Teahen, but I think the Royals got the better part of this one they got two guys that could start for them for a guy who was an everday utility man.
I think Fields alone with a change of scenery away from a manager that hates him could put up better numbers in KC than Teahen does with the Sox.
Getz is decent, but nothing more.

Wow, you mean a GM can be active now? Strange.

This deal means Dye is gone and likely opens the door for a Figgins deal.

Would you really want to pay $10 mil a year for a guy like Figgins, who probably will be on the decline in his mid 30s?

Nope, not me. I do like Figgins though, but not his price. I'd keep an eye on him though just in case that price doesn't get that high.

Good. Let the White Sox get him before we do.

Probably does foreshadow the end of Dye's welcome; Fields simply had to go (after expressing his dissatisfaction with mgmt's promoting Beckham), but I thought Getz had a fairly promising career with the Sox -- overall, I'd say basically a wash on Getz -- Teahen, with upside potential to KC for Fields.

"This deal means Dye is gone and likely opens the door for a Figgins deal. "

I've heard this statement a few times, but I just don't see it happening. They are not going to get in to a bidding war with other teams along with the Angels. The Angels and Figgins both agree they want him back in LA. He's going to get what....10M a year for two or three or more right? The Sox just took on Peavy and Rios....I don't see how they come close to affording Figgins. I also don't see Figgins wanting to leave LA, a near guarantee lock in the playoffs every year to go to a team that struggles to stay about .500. After those contracts, I don't see how they afford Figgins....regardless of Dye not coming back. The Dye money was spent on Rios.

I'm glad he went to the Sox, just another half assed player that won't be coming to the North Side.

Fields still has some potential and Getz did pretty good in his first year as a starter. what is Teahen's upside? His stats are not very impressive at all and I think he has peaked.

Forget Figgins let's get Ryan Freel.

Teahen definitely has not "peaked." He's been quite a disappointment, in fact. He's a guy who could and should have been a .850/.900 OPS hitter. But he's been a below average hitter the last 3 years. I think he needed a bigger move than to the White Sox... but KW loves him, so it's not surprising. He'll get to start at 3B and get a year where he probably pretty much stays there; and I think his hitting will come around and he'll bloom late. I see a year like DeRosa had for the Cubs in 2008.

Yeah, Fields still has some potential but he's 27 and has been dreadful the last couple of years. He wasn't going to get another chance to start with the Sox and I'd agree that Teahen is the better bet for your 2010 team and let's not forget, he's less than a year older. Getz is bad.

It's not a huge win because Fields does have some value still and it could have been used on something more certain. But it's a good trade-off and I think Teahen can be good.

Teahen will be a disappointment. Quentin is one of the few that actually reached their potential in Chicago.
