Thoughts? Experiences? I love how near the end the one monkey just pushes the other monkey down and steals the cup... classy.

The AMA has declared that Alcoholism is a disease. It is perhaps one of the most destructive diseases there is. It effects the whole family as well. Getting drunk at a Cubs game once in a while is not necessarily Alcoholism. Going on a 3 day bender and waking up in Cook County Jail on multiply charges is. Waking up with the shakes means one is obviously physically addicted to alcohol. I don't know if it's genetic or nor but I know it kills many people and being an alcoholic is not fun. The party ends when one cannot predict what will happen after drinking one or two beers. Thanx for the post.

I hope this thread doesn't turn into a complete joke. I actually thought it was really interesting that monkeys can be alcoholics too. Makes me wonder if there are animals out there addicted to other things... Could monkeys be pot heads too? Now I'd like to see that. Glazed over monkeys just sitting on a tree branch eating bananas curing their munchies.

Why couldn't they be alcoholics? It's chemical dependence. You can get animals addicted to just about anything that a human can.

Alcoholism isn't necessarily genetic, but there are people who are more likely to become addicts than others based on their genetic makeup and the behaviors learned from their parents.

Well, it is arguable that almost everyone will experience with alcohol to some degree... so those with more addictive genetic traits ... eh, you know.

Right, those with the greater disposition to become addicts will generally become addicts at a higher rate. Likewise, those who have parents that abuse alcohol will generally also abuse alcohol more than the average person.

I can see either of them going into Subway and just demanding that the subway sandwich builder just put the entire bin of bacon onto their subway and demand the 5$ price in whatever language it is that they speak
