I would be shocked if they traded young, they dont really need Boggs they have pitching depth, Maybe start with Garcia if you were trading pitching.
it would be nice to get a player like him though.

we need more production from 2b and SS.

NO. Too expensive and his career is headed down hill.

He will still out hit Ryan by a mile.

And if your the Yankees and can over pay for a little more production its fine but it wont happen with the cards.

It wouldnt be a little more production it would be a ton more.

Ryan isnt comparable offensively.

Not at all.

Have you even looked at Young's contract....It just happens to the the second highest at the time he signed it for the Rangers history. .....They signed that guy that played SS for them for a while to a $252 mil deal which is the only reason its not the highest.

5 years $80 mil in 07'. You actually think the cards are gonna pay him the same as Pujols.
I didnt say twitch hit like young I said young's production is not in line with his pay.

Dont get me wrong I would love to see Micheal Young playing SS for the Cards for the next 3 years or even 3B....hitting .320 with 15-20 HRs but the price tag makes it simply impossible.

might want to check those home / road splits :)
16 mil per, is a chunk of change to pay young for a career (.739 ops) road split, in over 3,000 PA.

Heard the same arguement for Holliday.

I think he did just fine for us dont you?

I am suprised most dont get my reasoning for this thread.

matt had 270 PA w/stl (2 months).
i don't think it's fair to either player, to compare 270 PA to 3,000 PA.

but yes, during the season he did fine for stl, but then choked in the postseason.
dropping a routine out and swinging at shoulder high pitches.

reasoning? bashing ryan would be your norm :)
i'll guess you want the whiffer at SS (tyler), and young at 3B instead of freese, barden or thurston.

TYLER GREENE FOR SS IN 2010!!!

I just changed my mind.

Trade Ryan for a backup catcher.

lugo probably has the highest offense upside of tyler, brendan and he, but you give up the most D starting lugo.
really doubt we acquire a middle infielder, especially with descalso in the pipeline.

kind of viewing the hoffpauir waiver as descalso pushing him out, and taking the AAA 2B job with an eye on a mid season callup. or sooner, with brendan and lugo's history of injury, tytler and descalso should see time on the 25man. much rather have descalso in thurstons role next season. descalso needs to start HOT in AAA as he did in AA last season.

sheets and harden are my targets. if we could get jermaine dye on a abreu contract of 09 for one season, mo will probably have to give tlr his "protection" for albert. wouldn't want to overpay for dye though.

I wouldnt be real suprised to see Skip in LF and Descalso at 2B at some point if we dont sign anyone.

Descalso is going to be our 2B at some point.

Webb was a guy I was wanting but the D-Backs excersised their option on him.

Austin Kearns is a guy thta we could get for cheap with upside though I dont realy care for him.

Marlon Byrd and Xavier Nady are two other guys I think we look at if Holliday doesnt sign, which I dont think he will.

yep, i think we agree that tlr and company will make a protection bat for pujols a priority.
they've always liked their big mac, bonds, walker, rolen, sanders bats.

marlon byrd finally has showed he is starter material, since coming to the ballpark in arlington.
never did much until 07 as a ranger. that's quite the launching pad in arlington.

he has 25 HR in arlington and his next highest total is 4 HR, in any other stadium.

Yep I think he could do well in front of Albert but not the guy I realy want behind him.

if they can't stay in the bidding for a big bat, at least get a good defender.
byrd, cameron, crisp types would compliment the pitching staff.
