"The Toronto Blue Jays claimed infielder Jarrett Hoffpauir off of waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals. Left-handed pitcher Bill Murphy was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Hoffpauir."

Too bad! I thought he had potential for the Cards.

I really never did.

He's 26-years old, and he doesn't seem like somebody that is ever going to be an MLB-caliber player.

In his brief stint with the Cards, he got a key hit to win a game ... and he looked pretty good on defense from what I saw.

No big loss. He really had no place with the Cardinals. His bat was OK, but he had no speed and his glove was atrocious.

We have Skip and Lugo at the Major League level and Daniel Descalso, who's younger and a better prospect, at AAA.

I hope he gets a shot in Toronto, though.

yeah, I have nothing against the guy... but he wasn't going to make it as a Cardinal. I agree with you.

I agree that the emergence of Schu and the acquisition of Lugo pretty much spelled the end for Jarrett in St. Louis. I too hope that he gets a decent shot in Toronto.

Good for him, I hope he makes the most of it. I don't think he had much chance of breaking through with the Cardinals. With Skip at 2B, The Hoff was going to get too old before there was room for him on our roster.
