which is more cost effective, an already proven star who will eat up a teams payroll, or a rising prospect who still makes near league minimum with star talent under team control and cheap price for many years
if tulo would make league minimum for us for several years, then yes you take the proven vet, but you have to factor in cost money wise in the equation, in addition to paying that salary for that player you also pay a prospect ace soon to be major league ready in addition to another young starting pitcher with potential to be a #3 who is also cost effective
you have to pay some stars but a team also needs young cost effective talent to compete when you dont have as huge as a payroll and endless money like the yankees, otherwise you have to fill rest of team with scrubs after paying for the few star players
