Dodgers got fleeced. Sounds like we got a younger, better Skip in return.
"Jake Lemmerman (SS)
Though he struggled upon being pushed to Double-A in his first full season, Lemmerman still shows a good glove and decent offensive skills. He is a fringe-average runner but has tremendous instincts and reactions in the field that gives him a chance to play shortstop. His hands and arm are very good. He makes contact at a good clip and has the knowledge of the strike zone to get on base aside from his hitting. He has the strength to drive the ball to the gaps with regularity. He is a max effort player that plays above his raw tools and he has an outside shot to be a regular at shortstop with a backup option of being a very nice offensive and defensive utility player.
The Dodgers pushed shortstop Jake Lemmerman way too fast last year, jumping him from rookie ball in 2010 to High-A in 2011 and then subsequently shoving him up to Double-A at the end of the year. He floundered in 22 games with Double-A Chattanooga, but the shine shouldn’t be completely removed from his prospect star.
Lemmerman is good with the glove, makes decent contact and has the juice to pick up some doubles and 8-12 home runs a year. He’s returning to Double-A this year as a 23-year old and while he likely won’t post eye-popping numbers or suddenly start showing up as a top shortstop prospect, he should be on the Dodgers’ big league radar heading into next year."
