You beat me to it. I'm interested to see who we get in return. I don't expect much.

In 3 seasons in the minors Lemmerman has hit .285/.377/.448/.825 but only hit .233/.347/.378/.725 last season

at least last year's .347 obp is quite respectable and remarkable considering he only had a .233 batting average

Dodgers got fleeced. Sounds like we got a younger, better Skip in return.

"Jake Lemmerman (SS)
Though he struggled upon being pushed to Double-A in his first full season, Lemmerman still shows a good glove and decent offensive skills. He is a fringe-average runner but has tremendous instincts and reactions in the field that gives him a chance to play shortstop. His hands and arm are very good. He makes contact at a good clip and has the knowledge of the strike zone to get on base aside from his hitting. He has the strength to drive the ball to the gaps with regularity. He is a max effort player that plays above his raw tools and he has an outside shot to be a regular at shortstop with a backup option of being a very nice offensive and defensive utility player.

The Dodgers pushed shortstop Jake Lemmerman way too fast last year, jumping him from rookie ball in 2010 to High-A in 2011 and then subsequently shoving him up to Double-A at the end of the year. He floundered in 22 games with Double-A Chattanooga, but the shine shouldn’t be completely removed from his prospect star.

Lemmerman is good with the glove, makes decent contact and has the juice to pick up some doubles and 8-12 home runs a year. He’s returning to Double-A this year as a 23-year old and while he likely won’t post eye-popping numbers or suddenly start showing up as a top shortstop prospect, he should be on the Dodgers’ big league radar heading into next year."

That may well be the case, but what this trade shows me is that the Dodgers aren't JUST spending like mad trying to buy a WS, they are also paying attention to the little things that can make a difference for a ballclub. That scares me. They're getting a veteran proven role-player who will be an immediate contributor and whose work ethic, fitness focus and consistent on-field level of effort will be positive influences in an otherwise ego-loaded clubhouse.

If the Dodgers win the World Series this will be the piece that puts them over the top.

Hyperbolic, perhaps, but in no way untrue.

Holliday feels the same way you do about this trade.

Holliday:"I'm not happy at all" about Schumaker being traded. "It just makes you sick...He's done a ton for organization"-KMOXSports

Holliday should know that it's part of the business. You don't keep a player who offers no value to your team on principle alone. I don't care what he's done for the team, only what he's going to do for this team.

Wow look at Jake Lemmerman's fielding

http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=lemmer001jak

His bat is pretty good though.

But trading Skip was like a dagger. This guy has given everything to this club whom without his 6 for 10 in the 2011 NLDS we probably wouldn't have made it to the NLCS. This is probably a major blow to our club house moral and our depth on the bench.

Whatever, dude. Skip wasn't even good enough to make the NLCS roster.

Last year the bench had one veteran. Now they have none. Mistake.
