That catch on Rizzo's fly was the play of the year!! I am thinking he is channeling some Jimmy Edmonds. That was one of the prettiest catches in a long time.

I'd say Trout's catch will end up as "catch of the year."

Jays catch was great, but its not in the top 10.

It made it much better that it was at Wrigley near the Ivy wall.

That was my thought it would not have been near as spectacular if he took a better route to it.

Was the wind blowing out? That might have affected it.

Luck, perhaps? But I prefer to view luck as the advantage a skilled athlete finds when he executes the correct sequence of actions.

whatever

I view it as 9-10 times Jay does not execute the correct sequence of actions on that hit.

It was a very nice recovery from a poor reaction to the ball.

It was also nice of the ball to hit the pocket of his glove.

I will give him credit for what seems to be a big improvement in his defense, though. He made a running catch over his shoulder last week that was a really fine play and the best part was that there never even seemed to be any doubt that he had the ball from the minute it left the bat.

I think he will develop into one of the best.

Just think how amazing he might be if he was able to maybe lose a few pounds and gain another step in speed/ quickness. He seems to be incredibly sure handed if he gets to a ball.
