According to several experts, a plus 1 format is almost certain to happen - although certain powers that be refuse to call it a "playoff", lol.
Sounds like they want to keep the bowl alliances in place but add a championship game. What are the various formats that would work?
I'm thinking we keep the 4 bowls then 2 of the bowl winners square off for the BCS championship.
This year it would have been OState vs Bama assuming LSU and Bama had played each other in the regular Sugar bowl instead of the title game. But how would you determine who plays who in each game and who advances?
a. Take the top 2 seeds AFTER all 4 bowls?
b. seed the top 4 teams to face each other in 2 of the BCS bowls, then the other 2 bowls get the leftovers?
c. something else?
option A could preserve the Pac10 and Big 10 Rose bowl alliances, while option B would most certainly interfere or destroy those alliances as the 2 "semi-final" bowls would presumably rotate every year. I think there is a hybrid scenerio that could work, but I can't get my head around it.
