He does lead the league in something: ABs. At least he is able to play every day this year, which is an improvement. The hits will come. "Facing" umps that don't give strikes on balls 6" above the dirt will help.

Hey Carp4....I am certainly pleased to see that somebody else has picked up on those "low ball", called strikes that Matt has been the victim of. They are forcing him to swing at just about anything within a foot of the zone. I was beginning to believe that it was just me. I also am wondering if 'ole Matt has been spending a bit too much time in the weight room, rather than the batting cage. It's just a pet theory of mine, but methinks baseball players don't need a weight lifting regimen as do some pigskin people. All those muscles have to effect a smooth, graceful swing. Just my humble. Postscript...I still like your avatar. Go Birds.

Hey ck...Methinks Matthew is pressing too much, trying to take up the slack where Albert left off. Seems to be trying to hit a Homerun with every AB. I still think he could shed a few pounds of muscle. I have always been partial to those "lean, mean, hitting machines", ala Musial, DiMag, Williams, Aaron. Leave the "Hulk Hogan" on the football field. I gotta believe Holliday will still find his stroke and hit around .300 with substantial amount of RBIs. He ain't, and never has been, anything close to an Albert P., but still is above average at the plate in my humble. Go Birds. Postscript...How 'bout them Hooks???

Hey ck.....As long as he keeps hacking at those low balls, that's all he's gonna to see. Like somebody said, way back when, "the pitchers network is faster than the speed of sound" and every opposing hurler is gonna know that Holliday is a addicted to the lowball. Adjustments are in order for him to get off the schnide. Go Birds.

I still expect a big year from Holliday. I think he has been pressing a bit, but seeing some signs that are encouraging. Bomb off of Marmol (granted Marmol has not been good) was really good. Even several of the outs he made this last series in Chicago were hit very hard. The season is still young, and I love the start the team is off to.
