Since the other one got taken over

What are your predictions?

I'm going with Phillies in 7 or at least I hope. I really want a good series, it has been awhile.

I hope the Phillies win too but I'm still thinking the yankees will take it.

My hopes are Phillies, but my brain is telling me Yankees. I will be Positive and say Phils in 6.

Phillies should matchup well because they can mash with them. They also have two lefties they can throw at the Yankees, too. I'd start Lee and Hamels in games 1 & 2 to neutralize the short fence in RF by turning around Tex.

Good call...I was thinking about doing the same thing

I think the Yankees win in 7...I hope I'm wrong.

I'll go with Phillies in 7, CC will blank them pitching 3 of the games, but they're gonna terrorize Pettitte and Burnett. When you're hot with the bats, doesn't matter how your pitchers do.

How crazy is this though? In 2 years, the Indians trade both their previous year Cy Young winners and both are now facing off in game 1 of the World Series this year. Too bad they didn't have the money, they'd have one of the best rotations in the game right now even with Carmona stinking and just the average guys they have now outside of that.

Yeah it has to be killing Indians fan, considering the sports in that town are brutal in general, with the exception of the Cavs, although Lebron will probably be gone soon.

If CC pitches 3 games, I think that the Phillies will be able to win 1, I would think that CC has to have a bad game eventually, especially against a good Phillies offense. And Cliff Lee has been great in the post season as well.

I really think this series has a chance to go 7, I really want a competitive world series for once.

The sad thing is my grandpa is a yankee fan. He called me yesterday just to rub it in.

I'd like to see it go 7 too, but with the trend of the past couple years, this thing is over in 4 or 5 in Philly with the Yankees taking the cake. Sigh...

The Phillies have seen Sabathia (and we Brewer fans will be reminded of it...ug!) and the Yankees are familiar with Lee but the first game will have an interesting story with these two facing each other

Like Eric said...the Phillies can slug with the Yankees and they were hot offensively in the NLCS. Hopefully that continues because they could beat the Yankees if that happens throughout the series.

Brad Lidge getting straightened away will be big too.

Let the smack-talk begin...

Have there been many bench-clearing brawls in the WS?

THAT would hold my attention

I like the Phillies chances...I wouldn't call them favorites but they definitely are the best team in the NL and are able to slug with the Yankees.

Your 3-man playoff rotation is as good as it gets and Happ can swing over to the pen...helping there.

Brad Lidge being lights out is the last piece of the puzzle.

Go Phillies!

I'd like to see the Phillies win but I have a feeling it'll be the Yankees winning it in 6. I hope I'm wrong.

Morning Deb.

I'll be rooting Phillies too, but not watching the games. The Yankees winning the pennant was enough to ruin the WS for me.

wouldnt it make it sweet to see the yankees lose then?

anyways....

im rootin for the phillies. these are the two teams i didnt want to see make the world series when the playoffs started, and of course it happens. i guess i hate the yankees more than i hate the phillies, so im rootin for the phillies, although i hope CC does well.

as others have stated, i think out of any of the NL playoff teams, the phillies have the best chance to hang with the yankees offensively. their starting pitching matches up pretty evenly too, in my opinion. like you guys said, i am just hoping for a 7 game series. id rather see the yankees win it in 7 than the phillies win it in 4.

plus 7 game world series means a few more extra games to watch before the season is completely over. its gonna be so hard not having any baseball to watch at all.
