KILLEEN, Texas – An apartment complex manager says the man accused of opening fire at Fort Hood, Texas recently had a religious bumper sticker torn off his car.
The manager, John Thompson, says a fellow soldier allegedly keyed Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's car and ripped up the bumper sticker. Thompson says the soldier had been to Iraq and was upset to learn Hasan was Muslim.
Thompson, who manages the Killeen, Texas complex where Hasan lives, says the bumper sticker read: "Allah is Love." In Arabic, Allah means God.
A report filed on Aug. 16 with Killeen police says Hasan's car had been scratched causing $1,000 worth of damage. The report says an Army employee had been arrested. It didn't provide more details about what happened.
THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE.

"....Patricia Villa said Hasan gave her some of his frozen vegetables, furniture, a few T-shirts - and a new copy of the Koran, the Muslim holy book. He also offered her $60 to clean up his pad."

A fresh tragedy added to the horror of the Fort Hood massacre Friday when it was revealed that one of the victims was a pregnant soldier.

Francheska Velez, who returned to the U.S. just three days earlier from a foreign posting, was filling out paperwork when a gunman hollered "Allahu Akbar!" and embarked on a bloody rampage that left her and a dozen others dead.

A 21-year-old Chicagoan, Velez was six-weeks pregnant when she was cut down on Thursday, FOX Chicago News reported.

Velez was a sitting duck when the accused gunman, Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, yelled "God is great" in Arabic and opened fire with the two guns he'd smuggled into an intake center, Col. John Rossi said at a post-massacre briefing.

Hasan might have claimed even more victims were it not for Officer Kimberly Munley, a courageous civilian cop who shot Hasan four times - even after she was hit, officials said.

"She walked up and basically engaged him," Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, the base commander at Fort Hood, said on 'Good Morning America' Friday. "I think, certainly, this could've been far worse."

Hasan was unconscious but in stable condition, breathing with the aid of a ventilator. Munley was also in stable condition, officials said.

Witnesses described Hasan, who was wearing an Army uniform during the assault, as steely calm. He paused only to reload one of his handguns. When it was over, Hasan lay motionless, leading officials to mistakenly assume he was dead.

Battle-hardened Sgt. Howard Appleby of the Bronx said "it looked like a war zone."

"There was blood everywhere," said Appleby, 31. "It was unbelievable. Guys were screaming and yelling. People were rushing to help. I took my shirt off and began assisting the wounded."

The death toll from the murderous attack rose from 12 to 13 early Friday after a woman died from gunshot wounds. It was not clear if Velez was that woman, or if she died earlier.

Rossi said 28 people were recovering from their injuries.

Velez is the second Chicago-area massacre victim. Earlier, the Army confirmed that Pfc. Michael Pearson of suburban Bolingbrook, Il. was among the dead.

While security remained tight on the nation's largest military base, the emergency lockdown at Fort Hood was lifted.

President Obama ordered that flags be flown at half staff on all federal buildings until Veteran's Day, which is next Wednesday, as "a modest tribute" to the victims.

"We don't know all the answers yet," said Obama, who intends to attend the memorial service at the base. "What we do know there are families, friends, and an entire nation grieving right now."

it was a terrorist attack. Its that simple.

We can't rationalize much. That man came with a religious view and shot up our unarmed military members.

That's what you call a coward. Just like the rest of the fanatic muslims all over the muslim world.

Just how many fanatic muslims are there in this world?

I would say roughly 15-20%. Thats a lot of bad people that want to kill us.

looks like Lieberman is the only person with balls to call it a possible terrorist attack.

Sen. Joe Lieberman announced Sunday that he intends to lead a congressional investigation into the mass shooting at Fort Hood, saying the attack could qualify as a "terrorist act" rooted in Islamic radicalism -- the worst since 9/11.

The Independent Democrat, who chairs the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, said there were "strong warning signs" that the alleged gunman, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was an "Islamist extremist."

"If that is true, the murder of these 13 people was a terrorist act and, in fact, it was the most destructive terrorist act to be committed on American soil since 9/11," Lieberman told "Fox News Sunday."

The Connecticut senator said authorities "don't know enough" yet, but said his panel would investigate the gunman's motives and "ask whether the Army missed warning signs that should have led them to essentially discharge him."

Lieberman said that if Hasan were showing warning signs, "The U.S. Army has to have zero tolerance. He should have been gone."

In interviews Sunday, Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey urged the public not to rush to conclusions about Hasan's motives with an investigation underway. He described reports about early warning signs as "speculation" based on anecdotes.

"I don't want to say that we missed it," he said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

The attacks on Fort Hood in Texas last Thursday left 13 people dead and 29 wounded.

The rampage sparked a debate about whether it could be viewed as an act of terrorism.

The alleged gunman, a Palestinian-American and an Army psychiatrist, reportedly shouted "Allahu akbar! -- Arabic for "God is great!" when he opened fire. He was seriously wounded by police and is being treated in a military hospital.

The military has said he was scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan, and family members suggested he was trying to avoid serving overseas.

That doesn't add up to the prelude to a terrorist attack, said Carl Tobias, a professor of law at University of Richmond who analyzes terrorist investigations across the country.

"Terrorist attacks are undertaken by people who typically ... have some agenda they want to forward politically, and from what I see in the news, this is just a person acting individually because he doesn't want to deploy overseas," he said. "So I just don't see that angle."

But others disagreed.

Lieberman said bystanders' accounts of the attack raise "genuine concerns that this was a terrorist act."

Homeland chief warns against anti-Muslim backlash
(AP) – 1 day ago
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — The U.S. Homeland Security secretary says she is working to prevent a possible wave of anti-Muslim sentiment after the shootings at Fort Hood in Texas.
Janet Napolitano says her agency is working with groups across the United States to try to deflect any backlash against American Muslims following Thursday's rampage by Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim who reportedly expressed growing dismay over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The shootings left 13 people dead and 29 wounded.
Napolitano was in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday for talks with security officials and a meeting with women university students in Abu Dhabi.

<Instead of saying the PC crowd are "protecting the Nazi's" maybe a better way of saying it is that the PC crowd are protecting the good germans, i.e. people like Einstein who came to America and led a productive and "good" life despite being a German. The "Muslims must get out of our country" people surely wouldn't have allowed Einstein to live and work here.

you mean like the one that just killed the soldiers? He was such a nice guy- never harmed anyone....Like the one that boasted of jihad and tried to contact al-Qaeda? Like the one whom if they would have profiled correctly without fear of being called racist, would have probably just been behind bars.
or like the ones that send him best wishes while he recovers?

Political Correctness is killing our country more than religious differences are.

like i said I don't see Hindus, Buddhist, or any other "non-christian" religion trying to kill us just because of that religion...

If this guy was anything..ANYTHING but Muslim would you be saying that...

insert child r@pi$t (or murderer) where muslim is and see if you would have the same attitude...
After all you can't judge one r@pist/murderer for the actions of another..after all ..they may still have a good soul and mean well...

libs make me laugh.

i truly understand where you guys who enjoy the PC mentality come from, I really do..You are trying to see the good in everyone..but that is not reality. Sometimes there are just a "people" that quiet frankly are savages...
The Muslim/Islam people fall into that category.

Back in the day the US was a melting pot..it is no longer that. People come here but not to look for freedom and not to assimilate.. they want the democracy and riches of the United States without adopting our culture, but instead come here and try to force their culture on us. Much like the Musli population is doing in Europe.

If there is a muslim tha works in a grocery store and refuses to touch pork...or scan certain item a customer has bought, we'd rather say.."That's ok...you can go to a break" for being sued or harassed.. BUT if that was a white or black NON muslim christian or je.w that did that..our boss would say "Fine-you're fired I'll find someone else to do it...

Political Correctness is wrong.

LOOK AT THIS BOARD YOU CAN"T EVEN TYPE J.E...W!!!

Wow. This has nothing to do with being PC what you're talking about here is almost a Naz.i to J.ew treatment of Muslims in our own country where we profess individual freedoms. You want to go after 2,000,000 Muslim-Americans because of the actions of about 4 or 5 in the last few years?

flame away but here goes....
History will repeat itself sooner or later.

it worked in WWII after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.
The Japanese, like the "white" germans thought they were a superior race. and did what they could to try and destroy the western-democratic way of life. the spy on Pearl Harbor was Japanese- They blended in to the point that they could no longer profile.

Japan at one time (before of course "the bomb") was fighting a holy war as well thinking they were always the superior human race. BUT no one ever mentions that..I wonder why...maybe its because the US stepped up and stopped it before it got out of hand? you think!

"Japanese fascism, which developed before the Second World War, and was part of the Hitler-Mussolini alliance, also possessed a "superior race" complex. In the New York Times of August 14, 1942, Otto D. Tolischus wrote about a booklet issued in Tokyo by Professor Chikao Fujisawa, one of the leading exponents of Japan's political thought and philosophy; source: darwindictators.com

I know there are a lot of you who don't like to read anything over a couple of lines because it gets hard to comprehend, So I'll break it down in several posts.

According to this booklet, (Professor Chikao Fujisawa)
which was made up for widest distribution, Japan, as the original motherland of the human race and world civilization, is fighting a holy war to reunite warring mankind into one universal family household in which every nation will take its proper place under the divine sovereignty of the Japenese Emperor, who is a direct descendant of the Sun Goddess in the "absolute cosmic life-center," from which the nations have strayed and to which they must return.79
The interesting thing is that the alliance of the fascist states was set up between groups who each saw themselves as the "superior race." For instance, the Nazis did not object to the Japanese superior race claims, but even encouraged them by describing them as "honorary Aryans."
But what is the root of the racism which forms the basis of all fascist regime.

In the earlier chapters of this book we saw that racism was a part of pagan culture, and that although it had already largely been done away with through the revelation of divine religion, it returned to Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. The greatest influence behind this new development was the replacement of the Christian belief that "God created all people equal" with "Darwinism". By suggesting that man had evolved from more primitive creatures, and that some races had evolved further than others, Darwinism provided racism with a scientific mask.

SO with that being added. A single bomb fixed it before and it could do it again.

do i think they all need to die? NO...but things will continue to get worse if we don't do something...we have to pull the rosey, PC shades off sometimes and we have to profile, We have to "look into things", we have to investigate and we have to profile based on passed experiences. so we don't have another Cole, Embassy, or Twin Towers..bottom line...
