because it clearly states in the Bible, which our country was founded on, that same sex marriage is wrong. Thus, to allow the legalization, would not be in God's interest, why should it be in mine.

Hebrews 13:4 (New International Version)

4Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

Romans 1:26-32

"We"? Not that there's anything wrong with that...

<Frankly as long as these gay people do what they do privately and stay on their side while I stay on mine, they can do whatever they want. Don't understand why people have the need to control others actions. So many stupid debates going on these days over rubbish

Who cares about what the Bible says? If people want to get married, they should be allowed to get married!

Live and let live, seriously.

And has anyone else seen the threads about the shooting in Texas? All the people act like this is a political issue. Get this... IT'S NOT. The guy shot up some people because he was twisted and possibly an extremist. It doesn't matter if he is Middle Eastern or Muslim. Any crazy person/extremist could've done the same thing (even an extremist Christian!)

That's funny, I seem to remember something about religious freedom and separation of church and state.

It's amazing people are still controlled by the government to such a demanding degree in so many aspects of their life.

"Where does it say in that quote that same sex marriage is wrong?"

It doesn't. People can make something out of nothing just to satisfy their agenda (just like on this board)!!

Oh yes it does.

Read 1 Corinthians 6:9. That scripture makes it clear that men who lie with men will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God.

There are other references that would take more research.

What people do is their own business & between them and God. Of course, they should go about their business and not be harrassed.

But in this case, just keep it in the closet as best you can and don't display around impressionable children.

If the majority of people in Maine do not want this type of marriage, then the people of that state should decide. No one said they cannot practice their lifestyle, just not receive the high sacarament of marriage as recognized by their State.

Like I said...you can take something out of context and make it what you want and conform it to win an argument. Bible text is interpreted in different ways and was written by MAN not GOD. Is the Bible verbatim text directly from God? Don't know and neither does anyone else. BTW...The Ten Commandments says nothing about homosexuality. I'll leave on that note...

I understand what you're saying, but with a 50% divorce rate in America and the glorification of game shows where people get married on TV, the sanctity of marriage was lost a LONG time ago. (G)ays can't ruin what has already been ruined. That said, marriage is sacred to me, which is why I hold my own marriage to very high standards in my household. And I think that's the point. The institution of marriage itself isn't sacred. It's only sacred if you put forth the effort to make it so. I just don't buy the argument that you can get married on a game show, or contribute to the 50% divorce rate, but as long as you're heterosexual it's sacred. On the other hand, even if you're in a loving and committed relationship, just because your partner is of the same sex, it's no longer sacred and should be banned?

Personally, I think it's a little silly to ban (g)ay marriage, but I agree that it's an issue that should be decided at a state level. If the people of the state don't want it, then the law should reflect that.

First i'll just say that I don't think homosexuality means you're going straight to he.ll...i'll just say that...it's sin (Romans 1:26-32) just like lying is. Secondly, it's impossible to argue anything from the Bible unless you believe that it was written by man, but ordained by God, and everything in the Bible that is in the Bible is in it for a purpose. Thus 100% true.

Finally to the quote, I can't speak Greek...so not even sure what the direct translation is...however, keeping the marriage bed pure speaks to a whole ton of issues in itself...currently just focusing on homesexual marriage, it does extend much further. but their are several examples in the bible relating homosexuality to impurity...thus it pertains. and the second part of the verse; it isn't for me to judge....but if you just sit on the sideline and say, "oh i don't care as long as they don't bother me," than you are very much a part of this laxadaisical (sp?) society that doesn't care about anything. By caring and showing disprovement of this sin by disallowing the country to support it as okay, you are not supporting sin. I will not stand on the sideline and say it's okay for other people to sin...it doesn't affect me. Look at our country, I wish I could draw a graph of the society from the first group who stopped caring and the depravity of our society. They would be very much a correlation.

Seperation of church and state is so cliche, and the reason that was set up was in my opinion to just keep this newly settled country from ever becoming like the country they came from...government ran religion. That "ammendment" was written 200+years ago and I really doubt they even placed some of the things that occur in our society today in their mind frame when issuing this ammendment. That's ridiculousness...

rant over, tear me to pieces if you wish.
