Are the Democrats and left-wing liberals trying to scare Americans into government controlled health care with a swine flu epidemic? An average of 1225 Americans die every week from the regular flu, but only a few dozen total have died from the swine flu during the entire year of 2009(it's been difficult to find a total anywhere...another cover-up I believe). Is Obama trying to frightning us into his plan of socialist America? Swine flu struck the U.S. before and it was barely even mentioned. So why now is it such a big deal? And why hasn't anyone mentioned the fact that CNN is an outlet for Obama and his left-wing cronies to fill the airwaves with anti-Republican propaganda? Save America before it's to late...Vote Republican!

"So why now is it such a big deal?"

Blame the media not Obama. The media does it's "best" work by sensationalizing anything it can and running with it as long as it can. Michael Jackson, Anna Nichole Smith, the balloon boy, etc are just examples of this kind of hype...

CNN is hardly as liberal as some like to claim it is. They rarely ever ask the tough questions of their guests, especially Republicans or conservatives that you might expect from a network that is labeled 'liberal' by the right. You can find liberals out there who think CNN caters to the right too much for that reason. I look at them as right in the middle of MSNBC and Fox. It's about crazy perspective. To me, CNN seems like the most centrist form of infotainment. If they were really so liberal oriented would they keep holding on to Lou Dobbs? I'm not trying to defend CNN because I can't stand it or any cable 'news' channel because it's all infotainment focused on opinion.

Jon Stewert did a funny segment about them last week.

Oh and as for their Swine flu coverage. No way in heII can I disagree they go overboard. They've been doing it for months even before the healthcare debate became front and center. They do it not for the healthcare agenda but because it's one of those perfect stories for a worrying infotainmemt audience.

Can't wait until December 2012 and the Mayan "prediction" hype...LOL

Oh God... I never thought about that being a news story but after mentioning it- my mind didn't have much trouble imagining the cable news channels going on and on about it and actually interviewing people for it. Maybe they'll have a favorite guest that is a descendent of the Mayan people.

The scary part is: even using my imagination with the idea and seeing the possibilities - nothing seems that crazy or farfetched when it comes to the coverage of cable news. lol

But by then there could be a goat flu...

Tom Hanks is starring in a movie about it. It has to be true.

If it isn't "FOX NEWS" it's "liberal". That's how crazy the loonies on the right are, or so want others to believe.

You are a bit off on the flu deaths, unless the figure has gone up in the last few years. I do admit the actual number did surprise me.

From the Centers for Disease Control:

www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm

Number of deaths for leading causes of death:
Heart disease: 631,636
Cancer: 559,888
Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 137,119
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 124,583
Accidents (unintentional injuries): 121,599
Diabetes: 72,449
Alzheimer's disease: 72,432
Influenza and Pneumonia: 56,326 <--------------------------------------------
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 45,344
Septicemia: 34,234
Source: Deaths: Final Data for 2006, tables B, D, 7, 30

In answer to your question, no. For one, Obama is not proposing government controlled health care. I would, but not him. Second, there are plenty of real health issues without needing to drum one up. Going bankrupt from medical bills is probably more on people's minds than making a leap from a flu epidemic to a national health service.

I have to ask: are you positing that Obama has a 'secret plan' to transform America into a socialist dystopia, of which he would be dictator for life? Something along those lines?

Oh yay. Thanks for bumping an old thread....

9/11 wasn't staged either. God, I don't want to start that ridiculous argument now too. Luckily you seem to be maybe 1 of 2 people on this board who actually believe that BS.
