Can someone explain to me how the people on this board who actually defend Corky Miller's play can get away with saying his offense is no big deal because he doesn't play in enough games for it to be relevant, while at the exact same time claiming his defense is just so dang good that the Atlanta Braves should keep him around? Anyone else see the double-standard here?

Corky Miller, the guy who Pirates' outfielder Nyjer Morgan said wasn't a good defensive catcher back in early April of this year, and his three passed balls DON'T even play GOOD defense to begin with. The whole argument is MOOT. Please stop with the insanity of calling all no-hit catchers good defenders when they're NOT!

No.

1) He is a back up catcher, he isn't going to get a chance to play much, so offensively he isn't going to do much at all. However, as a backup catcher, you need to be able to catch, and he can do that pretty well. He may have had a bad spell, but didn't chipper just have an 0-11 series?

2) His 2Abs is rarely going to win a game. However his 150pitches caught can certainly lose the game if he isn't a good defensive catcher.
