The World Baseball Classic is a start of new world tensions.

I see this as much as the 1932 Summer Olympics in Berlin Germany.
I see much of this is the 1968 Mexico City Summer Olympics.

This World Baseball Classic is very controversial.

And Taiwan's government members beating up their own members.

The WBC is to promote the game in new markets and to connect the Japanese baseball traditions to the North American ones. It's not about pride, or supposed to be a parallel to the FIFA World Cup or the Olympics.

Baseball was taken from the Olympics because it's not a global sport, the WBC sets out to fix that.

I'm thinking both.
