According to MLB trade rumours, the Jays are in talks to trade for him.

Blue Jays, D'Backs Discussing Chris Snyder
By Tim Dierkes [November 7 at 10:05am CST]
MLBTR has learned that the Blue Jays and Diamondbacks are in trade talks for catcher Chris Snyder.

Snyder would be a good fit for the Jays, who have catcher Rod Barajas eligible for free agency. The 28-year-old Snyder hit .200/.333/.352 for the D'Backs in a season marred by a back injury (he had surgery in September). Presumably the Blue Jays' doctors would have to check him out before a deal could be completed. The other issue would be money - Snyder is owed $11.25MM over the next two seasons. Snyder received the contract on the strength of his '08 season (.237/.348/.452) but has since lost the starting job to Miguel Montero

I threw his name out there a couple of weeks ago but I had some serious qualifiers attached to his name. Namely that the D-backs would have to pick up at least half of his remaining salary and that his back was really a non issue. I do like his game when healthy, he was showing nice progress before last year.

This is a buy low deal... I assume Arizona would pick up some of his contract so its not that bad of a move.. I don't see us giving up much prospect wise.

Not sure how he is defensively but he must be pretty good for being given that kind of contract as a .230's hitter.

It really depends on health and what we would have to give up.

It woul dbe nice to be able to trade Overbay and signing a guy like Adam Laroche but with them having Reynolds and hiss 44 home runs that's not likely.

They better eat a bunch of that.
Or that's a sign they're gonna spend a ridiculous amount of money this year. lol

I don't know what the full details are. But according the Jordan Bastia twitter page that the new GM is going to be talking to the media at some point today.

Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos scheduled to talk to the media later today. Will likely address 2010 plans after meeting with ownership this week.

Thanks for posting that. One bad contract for another makes sense and clears the way for Dopirak to be given a try.

I think next year Dopirak and Ruiz should both be given a shot. I am pretty sure the Jays want to keep Lind at Dh so the other can play to give Lind and the winner rest. Righty-Lefty Splits could also play a role.

Not bad. It could be basically Overbay & Barajas (if left to walk) for Snyder, Dopirak & a comp' pick.

Or we could be making a run at a monster like Adrian Gonzalez? We have the young cheap pitching and Snider to throw at San Diego. Not to mention some of the non-tenders like Garland that we could snag for cheap and fill 200IP.

Lots of options and I'm getting excited.

Why would Dopirak be given a shot when he wasn't even a Sept call up?
Mind you AA is in charge not JP.

You're happy at gambling with them as our everyday 1B? So if they end up hitting .220 with 15HR, you'll be happy we have nothing to fall back on?

Their not that bad, and we still have lind for a 3rd option at 1b if need be.

Maybe the Jays have something up their sleeves in regards to first base. I dunno. Maybe will find out more info when AA speaks with the media.

We really have no idea. Sure Ruiz could hit 35HR, but he could also hit .220 with 10 HR and we're scr*wed.

Tim, in the comments said he thinks this deal is gonna happen. If that means anything to anyone.

We're not going to the playoffs anyway, so why would we be screwed?
