    • More surgical operations on the horizon planned for the Jays

It appears we're not out of the woods yet. The surgeries for Encarnacion & Wells aren't the only ones we're gonna have to deal with.

Apparently there's been approximately 10+ thousand heart transplant surgeries booked for fans, once Roy Halladay's been traded.

Its a shame because a quick dose of reality would've prevented the broken hearts.

gibbers07,

Just give it a rest.

Please.

We get it. You think you are better than all Jays and Canadian baseball fans.

But really, you just come across as desperate. Let others create your reputation for you instead of the grand self-declarations and demeaning posts.

I'm speaking as one of the many lurkers who endure this nonsense in the search for decent Jays debate. I guarantee you that your self-promotion and superior tone just make many of us roll our eyes. It's a shame, 'cos you DO have some good stuff to say, but unfortunately it comes with a main dish of ego and aggression. Which, on the internet, is pretty sad.

So please, just stop. Let your arguments do the talking.

Grazie.

"gibbers07,

Well I know for a fact that I'm not better than any of the Jays. But as for Canadian baseball fans, I'd tend to think I could easily hold my own.

"But really, you just come across as desperate. Let others create your reputation for you instead of the grand self-declarations and demeaning posts."

Desperate, how so? As for letting others create my reputation? You have created it, just ask 19 of the other knowledagble posters that I'm in a Dynasty League with. They'll vouch that I'm very relaxed in that league.

No, what's sad is the lack of knowledge being debated. There are alot of Jays fans that know what they're talking about, but its miniscule to the ones that don't. I come on here just like everyone else. But when people that clearly don't know what they're talking about join a discussion and interject their thoughts, how do we expect to continue the discussion when its gone off the rails?

I've actually been alot better of late at ignoring people. But I'm sure that offends other people as well, leaving their questions unanswered.

Gibbers,

I agree with flyingjay. I enjoy your comments but not your self proclaimed greatness. Besides I am very concerned that you may break your arm patting yourself on the back.

"Well I know for a fact that I'm not better than any of the Jays. But as for Canadian baseball fans, I'd tend to think I could easily hold my own."

Declaration. Nobody cares about what you think of yourself or other fans. Just let your arguments do the talking.

"Desperate, how so?"

Elevating yourself by belittling others. On an internet message board.

"As for letting others create my reputation? You have created it"

Yes, and the reputation I just laid out was not a particularly good one. You're doing yourself a disservice with the egomania. It's just very unimpressive, believe me.

"just ask 19 of the other knowledagble posters that I'm in a Dynasty League with. They'll vouch that I'm very relaxed in that league."

You are what you do. Most of the users on this forum just see what you do on this forum. One user has already backed me up to say that your grandstanding is a mindnumber. Really, it's nothing to do with being controversial...it's just headache-inducing. Cut that stuff out and I'm sure we'd all enjoy reading your take on things.

You dismantle their arguments thoroughly with a reasoned rebuttal. Any spectator worth their salt will respect rational arguments, and that is how a fanbase gets influenced. But just throwing your ego out there with each and every post just obfuscates any decent stuff you have to say.

"I've actually been alot better of late at ignoring people. But I'm sure that offends other people as well, leaving their questions unanswered."

I'm sure they wouldn't care. I think that's the principle you've got to get your head around - Jays discussion doesn't revolve around you. Heck, even this messageboard is only the second or third stop of the day for many fans...

In short: make it about the argument, not yourself.

Grazie.

But I've met people from the forum. All very nice people and knowledgable to boot. When I come on this forum I want to have an intelligent baseball conversation. So if an 11 year old, who has every right to be on here jumps into a conversation and says something stupid and I question him on his dumb idea, and he fires something smart-a55 back like I use to, I'll belittle him. And if its someone older that has suggested something stupid, they should be ashamed of themselves for trying to impose dumb ideas in an intelligent conversation. I'm not here to be a nice guy and direct people to the correct answer. They should have some sort of semblance of how baseball is played.

"As for letting others create my reputation? You have created it"

I'm trying my best to ignore people instead of trashing them. I hope you don't think ignoring people is wrong as well and leaving their questions un answered.

Find me posts where I trash people that know what they're talking about. And to further that, find me posts where people have said something rational that I've trashed?

I agree this guy seriously is the only one shouting out his greatness. The sad part is I think he honestly believes it.

Obfuscates. Never heard that one before. I learned something today on the Jays board.

Gibbers is a pretty decent and chill fellow in our league. Definitely a good addition and fine guy to have around. At the same time on here he does grandstand a bit too much for my liking and does put down some posters that do have some decent contributions to make to the board. Either way I don't think too many people give much thought to the people on the Jays board, so if anyone wants to try and work themselves up to being a king of the board, it is going to be in vein. Really nobody cares too much about Gibbers, your opinion of Gibbers, about me, or about this post I'm writing. I'd tend to reserve my judgment of people until I meet them face to face, since most people are different on the internet, me included to some extent.

Hopefully AA makes his announcement soon so some more meaningful discussions can take place.
