Will the Phils lose the WS because they didn't get Doc?

Don't get me wrong- Cliff Lee has been nothing short of phenomenal. I'm not saying Doc would have pitched better (he would though), but Lee has not pitched on short rest. Only 2 starts from your ace in the World Series could very well be the deciding factor. Doc would have definitely pitched on short rest and have been ready to pitch for game 4. It seems like Lee starting now is too little, too late.

Let's hope the Phils can still pull off the upset...

They'll lose because the Yankees have been the better team.

No Lee has done everything they could have asked for them. It was a very good trade for the Phillies.

no because....

its stu.pid that the yanks are pitching them on three days rest cause there gambling against a really really good lineup 1-8. CC sabathia can handle it but can aj(yes hes eben great but his stuff isnt always there on 5 days rest its a gamble to throw him out there) and andy pettite very good pitcher but more a finnesse pitcher and again their pitching to an american league lineup thats is the NL.

Charlie manuel did the right thing on not pitching him imo, i think either team should only of pitched a pitcher on three days rest in game 7 where the pitcher has 4 months to rest after that game so they can give it there all.imo.

really did blanton do that bad where it bad fired?

The Got Lee. And he has won all his post season starts. One guy doesn't win it all for you

Nobody could afford Halladay.

Why do you post this and then answer your own question. The guy they did trade for has been phenomenal for them. I seriously doubt Halladay would have been any better. Now watching Burnett, that makes me smile, looks good on him and the NYY. LOL

Any way you slice it,i think the Phillies would love to have Doc and Downs on thier team right now.

The sick thing is,they still still had almost enough left in their system after they aquired Lee to get at least halladay if not both.

Which also lends itself to the fact that the Bluejays organization has been a joke for a decade, all while harboring the best pitcher in the game.

How long is Lee's contract ? I wouldn't be surprised to see PHI try and still put something together on Halladay.

He's in the same boat as doc.

I Agree...I think the Phillies will be in on the trades for Doc if the Jays decide to go that route. A pitching rotation with Doc, Lee, Hamels would be pretty good.

They might be having second thoughts about Hamels. LOL just kidding

because this is a discussion board, and i wanted some discussion on the topic :)

anyways, i know lee has pitched beyond amazing, and is a huge part of phillies success this postseason. but 2 starts from your ace in the WS is a lot different than 3 starts from your ace. just saying. if it goes to game 7, it'll be NYs #1 vs the Phillies #3

Isn't it Hamels that would be pitching Game 7?

Sometimes the rotations are set up a certain way for a reason. Hamels is a far superior pitcher to Pedro. So at worst its the Yankees number #1 on repeated short rest, versus the Phills Hamels, rested.

Not judging, just stating a point.

You are forgetting that Hamels is now a predictable pitcher and gets hammered once hitters have seen him. At this point Pedro with a 85 MPH fastball who knows how to pitch is just as effective as a rested Hamels who is completely predictable.

1st time: .220

2nd time: .270

3rd time: .330

Even taking into account the standard curve for the average pitcher that is an absolutely horrible progression.

im speaking in terms of how the phils set their rotation- they chose pedro as their #2 in the postseason.

either way..looking right now like they won't get to a game 7 anyways

could of had Lee and DDoc if they wanted to part with the prospects....all the prospects for Lee were of no interest to the Jays.....Haap,Drebeck and Brown......for a world Series........
